How do I rewind to the old app! Just can’t get on with this.

what you could do one handed in one area of the screen is now awkward and clunky and needs two hands.

Honestly I'm susceptible to migraines and my eyes are straining after a few mins.

I'm baffled that the designers behind the change have thought the size and typeface were useable.

It's laughable that MN have paid anyone to come up with this as the best and final improvements to a user friendly app in this day and age.

I've been on here 20 plus years and I'm so disappointed, that it's unusable now .

another voice here asking which idiot at MNHQ signed off on this new app? It looks cheap and its functionality is cheap and clunky. Just awful. I should say thanks though, as I’ve been wanting to curb my own screen time recently, so at least this crap app will be easier to step away from

I'm finding it much more cluttered and I preferred the less glaring background on the old one. This one is a bit cartoony. I like being able to see all the OP posts and the edit function though. I'd like the old look with the new functionality please!!

Following on the flipping theme, on the old app you could see just the OP posts and flip them to see newest first. I can’t find a way to do that now, the op only filter always show oldest first which can be a long scroll to find their most recent post

Agree that the white background is too bright. I can’t figure out how to flip to the end of a thread either… really annoying!

The text is too big. I can adjust on my phone settings but then the text is too small everything else on my phone.
Also, when you filter to just see the op’s posts you can’t flip them.

I honestly can’t see any issues with it at all, but then I didn’t really use the old app much. I guess it will probably be a case of just getting used to it? Maybe MN can make some tweaks to it.

Please please please let us have the old one back 🙏🙏 Far too many issues to list but I cannot use this forever I just can’t.

New app seems very dated in appearance compared to the old one, feels like a step back rather than forward!

I like the new app. It’s much clearer. But I don’t like the change to flip the thread.

100% agree with this, the ‘new’ version feels like a complete downgrade.

I hope they do a poll and allow us to revert back to the old version. I really hate this one so far.

When you have too much wine and you design an app. Who thought such glaringly white background is a good thing? Meh.

You can’t refresh the “active” list without scrolling all the way to the top.

You can’t highlight and copy bits of text from a post, to then put in your own in bold. This is annoying because it means you have to quote an entire post, and if it’s long and you just want to respond to one specific point, it’s not as clear what’s being responded to.

If you hit enter when writing a post, the start of your sentence is no longer automatically capitalised.

I can’t understand the logic behind any of those changes.

There is no limit to the active threads list like there used to be - this is annoying but at least I can understand MN’s logic (to encourage more scrolling) even if I don’t like it.

When going into a bookmarked thread, it often takes me 5-10 posts either side of where I have actually bookmarked. There’s no point in a bookmark feature that doesn’t work.

When you filter to show all OP’s comments, it no longer tells you at the top how many there are.

Bookmarking function isn’t working correctly. You still see the OP and some posts before the bookmarked one.

Agree on the futility of adding an extra step to flip the thread, will add that you can no longer swipe a post to bookmark, report etc which is such a basic feature - again you have to lift your thumb or finger to tap the dots and then select the function you want.

New app looks old, is clunky, unintuitive, and the white background is jarring.

Even writing this post is a pain because when you press return after a full stop to create a new paragraph, it doesn’t recognise it and doesn’t capitalise the first letter 🙄

Come on MNHQ, you can do way better than this.

I keep opening the app, going on the one thread I regularly post on, remembering how rubbish the app is and going straight off which is great for my screen time but probably the opposite to what MN want.
As everyone else has said the flip asking you which order to sort is pointless, of course I want to change it to newest first, the OP still being at the top is also annoying when it’s lengthy e.g. a thread like the premium bonds thread which has tonnes of info in the OP.

Active being in the top left when on a thread and also on the active page clicking active doesn’t take you back to the top / you can’t just drag down the refresh.

no capitalisation when you start a new paragraph.

Not being able to swipe to bookmark / watch is really irritating.

Probably plenty more things but as I’m barely using it I wouldn’t know..

I do like some of the new functionality, not really fussed about voting, guess editing may be handy, but I have the same issues as have been repeated on every thread about this so far.

Main issue - the glaring white background and big writing. Thanks to a helpful poster on another thread I have been able to use the per-app function in iPhone accessibility settings to change only this app to black/orange/green and a sensible text size. But it’s ridiculous that a newly designed and tested app needs this level of manual correction to be useable. It also means I can’t see emojis or images properly. Or ads, not that I care - but mumsnet’s advertisers might.

The flip extra step is extremely clunky and leaving the OP before new comments awkward.

Not being able to c&p sections to reply to means long quotes with lack of clarity about what part is being replied to.

Yes this is really bugging me! I’ve clicked the button because I obviously want to change it from what I have now. Why would I need to click a second time?

The old app was extremely basic so I was excited when we were finally getting a new one. I’ve only been on the new app a short while but what’s annoying me most is when I see a post on your Facebook page, I normally click on it and if interested copy the thread title into the app (because it opens in the Facebook window and not logged in or able to see OPs posts only - another little bit of bullshittery) but the new app when you search only brings up comments in the thread so if I click into a thread with many comments already I am unable to get to the top or the bottom, I’m just half way through and missing a lot of relevance. It also wouldn’t show OPs posts due to “an error” despite multiple tries. It was the birthday cake thread and I had to go to web based browsing on safari, log in and then see ops post which is really shit considering the money you’ve likely invested in this app.

How the hell do I get rid of the big m notification at the very top of my phone screen next to my WiFi symbol.
