I can only see lots of posts with an option to load more.

On safari, iPhone 6, customised settings are set to 25 per page.

I'm obviously in this test group too, so remove me. And I had to scroll down for ages before I got to the message box.

This reminds of the shit managers pull at work regarding new ways or systems put in place to improve how we work. It doesn't improve how we work, we're working our arses off just fine thanks if you would only leave us alone. It's just more stressful shit we have to learn and put up with, and it's sprung on us without any heads up. Note that the managers introducing these procedures don't actually have any need to use them themselves.

This type of stuff is often done by people who haven't got enough to do and are trying to justify their salaries mixed up with a bit of "hmmmm how can we really piss off people this month".

It's utterly arrogant and selfish. Put it back to how it was immediately.

Hey @TheSuperbOwl I understand it’s annoying for you but I can 100% assure you there’s no one at MNHQ who hasn’t got enough to do or is trying to justify their salary by pissing people off. As I’ve said, there are many good reasons why we’re testing this out, but I get that it’s not for everyone and so we will have an option to turn it off if we do roll it out.

btw you can jump to the reply box at any time by hitting the “add post” button that appears on every post.

I hate it too.
I like knowing how many pages there are before I either read a thread or watch it.
Seeing how many pages there are is more relatable in terms of how long it will take to read.
Also it's just nice to have the thread in pages, which are neat and ordered.

KezzaMucklowe · 09/03/2025 07:05

Gah. I've just spent ages typing a lovely post and it's gone !
I dont like it either.

KezzaMucklowe · 09/03/2025 07:07

Hmmmm.
That's neither lovely or long,
Some of it is missing and it definitely wasn't there a minute ago.

KezzaMucklowe · 09/03/2025 07:10

Can you remove me from the test list too please.

Wheech · 09/03/2025 07:41

Could I please have my pages back too?

HomeTheatreSystem · 09/03/2025 08:07

It's tedious. If I want to re-read a post I will have a vague idea which page it was on. With this, it's just an endless stream with no indication of whether you're in the middle or end.

HomeTheatreSystem · 09/03/2025 08:09

Please remove me from the test group.

AquaTofana · 09/03/2025 08:35

I too appear to be in a test group which I was not told about and have certainly not been specifically asked to test anything to make the experience worth my while. I had to seek out the Site Stuff subject to find out what was going on!

I occasionally use the bookmark feature if I’m really invested in a thread but usually I dip in and out and knowing where the last posts are by page number is helpful. With the endless scroll feature I can only go to the end and then scroll backwards to find a place where I can start reading from. It seems the bookmark feature is glitchy on this new format by what a few other posters have said. Plus those on data are having difficulties loading pages.

For example, I was reading the Gene Hackman thread and went back to it to find over 350 posts. I hadn’t bookmarked it as I knew roughly where I’d got up to. I’m a visual processing sort of person. In the end I gave up trying to find a post to start from. Not really the outcome you want, Mumsnet.

Please may I have my pages back?

Hattysbackpack · 09/03/2025 10:10

Please remove me too. I dip in and out of threads I don’t watch or post on. I wanted to read the latest posts in the US traitors thread in telly addicts to see what people thought of the final. I would normally navigate to the last page. However I clicked on the thread and it’s hundreds of posts long and I’d get rsi scrolling that much. I just gave up and didn’t read it. I know I can probably order it by latest post or something but I like reading mostly in order albeit clicking backwards through pages.

I’ve ended up logging out just so I get things back to normal and this would entirely put me off using Mumsnet at all, tbh.

Wallywobbles · 09/03/2025 10:11

Would it be possible to be able to bookmark more than one post? So you can flag all the posts that interest you? And then have a "this is where I got to" type bookmark.

saynotofondant · 09/03/2025 13:20

SueMumsnet · 06/03/2025 14:33

that's a really useful insight thank you - if you wouldn't mind trying bookmarking a thread you're following like this and let me know if it does or doesn't do what you need that would be v helpful

This isn’t any good for lurkers who don’t log in or don’t want to create an account. You still get ad revenue off them

I hate it as it encourages mindless scrolling, which I’m trying to stop in myself.

saynotofondant · 09/03/2025 13:21

SueMumsnet · 08/03/2025 14:09

We will get anyone who’s asked to be removed taken out of the test group as soon as we can. Thanks for feedback and sorry for annoyance. Lots of people find it an easier way to read threads but I understand it’s not for everyone and so, as I’ve said above, if we do roll it out, we’ll have a way for you to switch it off in settings.

Please remove me from the test group too

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/03/2025 14:56

Please remove me too.

hi @Wallywobbles there's a "save" button in the 3 dots menu on the top right hand corner of each post - does this do what you'd like it to do? It allows you to save posts in a list - and then bookmark just marks where you're upto on a thread. All a bit hidden and we can look at that - but just wondering if it does what you'd like it to do or not quite?

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 08/03/2025 11:55

My page numbers are back! Many thanks.

Yay! 🥳

AlexandrinaH · 09/03/2025 15:40

I would prefer it if you had to turn this option on, rather than off. I’m sure we used to have the option to “view all” posts; I used to to use this a lot if I had an inkling the thread might get deleted so I could read all the posts before it went 😁

Can’t you just bring this option back?

KezzaMucklowe · 09/03/2025 16:29

@SueMumsnet @BeckyAMumsnet
Hi, any idea how long it takes for the old page format to be reinstated please ?
Gin

Lancrelady80 · 09/03/2025 19:11

Thank you for giving me pages back. (Took about 24 hours after I requested it.)

Query though - when I finish reading a page and go to the next page, it now automatically takes me to the BOTTOM of the new page, as if I am about to post on what I have read. But of course I'm not going to, as I haven't read those posts since you just put me straight to the bottom of the page. I have to scroll back to the top before I can read any posts on that page. So can this be changed so it goes to the first page on that page rather than ready to reply?

Tulips01 · 09/03/2025 23:00

I absolutely hate this new way of not being able to navigate between pages and want to return to how things were.

Murica · 10/03/2025 00:24

Please remove me from the test group.

I can get to reply box easily enough but I try not to post unless I've read the whole thread. If I have to keep scrolling, I lose my will and read something else.

KezzaMucklowe · 10/03/2025 07:02

I've got pages back !!!!!!!!
Hurrah.

KezzaMucklowe · 10/03/2025 07:02

Thanks HQ.

TwoLoonsAndASprout · 10/03/2025 12:59

@BeckyAMumsnet @SueMumsnet, for a brief moment there I had my pages back, but they’re gone again. Can you please restore them, again?

Marscleo · 10/03/2025 13:31

Please remove me from the test group - painful!
