I assuming there will be no statement at all until MN have received legal advice. They can’t just publish a statement, given the gravity of the situation this will need to be handled very carefully. Unless their lawyer is on speed dial - they may not be in a position to say anything until mid morning.

MNHQ has responded on the thread about Night watch

@NiteWotcha not sure which thread @notatinydancer saw the photos on it might be a different thread (?)

The title was something like
My boyfriend / partner doesn't do anything.

Redtrainyellowcarriage · 03/02/2025 09:57

@notatinydancer thanks for reply. I was trying to get the full details to pass on tonight right ppl. That's was awful last night. Im not going to be using mumsnet anymore.

MoonWoman69 · 03/02/2025 10:00

Thank God I didn't see them. Absolutely vile. I wish we could rid the world of these sick individuals. 😡

Dollychopsporkchops · 03/02/2025 10:03

Just clicked on this thread. Can’t believe what I’m reading that someone posted such vile images on this site??

But please can you warn us of potential abuse images so that ppl don’t accidentally click on this thread…I would’ve avoided the thread.

Also why are people still sending the links for other threads with the abuse images. Please report instead of sharing because Who on earth wants to see that.

bloody hell

There is absolutely no way that volunteers should be dealing with this for a profit-making business. The site is a massive business. This is unethical.
I am so sorry for those that have happened on images that they now can’t unsee. I am so sorry for the people who are expected to tidy this up and leave written reports for management that should be organising themselves in such a way that this kind of monitoring is paid for. Other social media sites manage this Mumsnet!

Indeed, from companies house over 7 million in profit! The fact there are volunteers on here for something so serious is ridiculous.

From BeckyAMumsnet at 08.28 on the other Site Stuff thread:

Hello, all. First off, we want to apologise to anyone who saw these images overnight and huge thanks to our night watch, whom we'll be in touch with separately. There are some good suggestions on this and other threads about the situation and we'll discuss them today. While this is fortunately a rare occurrence, obviously we don't want it to happen at all.

We are reporting the user to the police and will be back later with further updates. Please bear with us while we do this.

Lemsipper · 03/02/2025 10:11

Im honestly feeling so traumatised over what I saw on mumsnet last night. At least 15 extremely graphic Catergory A images were posted and online for a good hour (maybe longer, I didnt check back)

IMO mumsnet needs to be taken down pending full investigation into how this was allowed to happen.

I’m so pissed off that Ive been exposed to such images. Honestly feeling like sueing mumsnet for their negligence.

So sorry you’ve been exposed to that, it’s unbelievably horrific.
I’m actually disgusted they were up for that long 😤

I’m worried about clicking on posts now.
They would have banned that poster but what is stopping them doing it again under another name?

That's absolutely dreadful, poor you and more obviously poor children.

I pay a fiver a month to avoid seeing adverts on here, if they really earn £7 million in profit a year then it's outrageous that there isn't a fully paid professional working all night to cover this type of thing.

dontforgetme · 03/02/2025 10:20

Christ almighty I can't believe what I'm reading. I hope the police are able to track down this sick bastard. Thoughts with everyone who saw these horrific images on here last night.

Sick sick sick sick.

dontforgetme · 03/02/2025 10:21

@Lemsipper absolutely horrific, I hope you're ok.

takehischipsandputthemonmyplate · 03/02/2025 10:22

I'm scared of clicking on threads too. Would rather come off mumsnet permanently than risk seeing something like that. How are mumsnet HQ dealing with something this serious?

PandoraSox · 03/02/2025 10:22

God, how awful. So sorry for the night watch folk and those who saw the images.

PandoraSox · 03/02/2025 10:24

There have been lots of other problems with the site recently, but obviously not as horrific as this. How was it allowed to happen?

ThatsNotMyTeen · 03/02/2025 10:27

TwigletsAndRadishes · 03/02/2025 04:37

I think this is serious enough that the board should just be shut down until it's sorted. I don't know what sort of contact the night watch team have with MNHQ but at the very least someone should be on call to act immediately in cases like this, not just rely on the night watch to hide threads as posters report them.

Maybe they should remove the ability to post photos at times when MNHQ are not on duty. It's no great inconvenience to not be able to post photos overnight.

I agree

FebruaryCrow · 03/02/2025 10:30

Yes there have, which is the reason I wasn't on the site last night thank fuck.

I'm so, so sorry, @Lemsipper that you had to experience what you did.

Anything to be part of Mumsnet. This place is that special they would give up their sleep for free. Mumsnet has a responsibility has the police been contacted? Surely a poster can contact the police and they would contact the people in charge at Mumsnet. This is what winds me up about Mumsnet all people do is post about it what about talking on the phone to the police.

I don't blame you it's all about money. Fuck people's mental health. People are getting their kicks berating people online. It's uncomfortable to read.
