Clickbaity horrible advert (TW: domestic violence)

I just had this absolutely vile looking advert appear in the middle of a thread. It shows a photo of Sara Cox with a bruised face (fake as I have reverse searched the image) and has a red box below saying “now we know that the rumors are true.” (spellings like that). I have screenshot but not sure whether to
post it. It was 08.21 and I’m on Safari on an iPhone 13. Not sure what it linked to as when I came back from screenshotting it the advert had changed.

ETA: it was on the ground rice post, if it makes any difference.

Yup, several times in various threads in active this morning and at least three times on this thread. Mainly Jeremy Clarkson and Sarah Cox

Have had both the "this was not meant to be public" and "now we know the rumours are true" on the ads.

Cherryblossom81 · 02/09/2024 12:11

I've also got the Sara Cox advert popping up on lots of threads.

rockingbird · 02/09/2024 12:12

I've just seen this, didn't click but did make me wonder 😳

rockingbird · 02/09/2024 12:14

I've now seen three different types two of Sara cox one of Jeremy clarkson 🤷🏼‍♀️

BearBilly · 02/09/2024 12:28

It's actually coming up while reading this thread.🫣

BeyondSmoake · 02/09/2024 12:34

@HebeMumsnet

I literally have it four times in this thread alone

Same here on the Mumsnet iOS app. Have reported several to Google Ads as inappropriate but same image or similar reappears on scrolling through any thread. I haven't seen them elsewhere and haven't Google searched anything related. Not willing to click on them either sorry, don't want to end up with more of them! They seem to flash up after something more innocent e.g. gazebo adverts (which is something I have been searching for lately)

Inmyownlittlecorner · 02/09/2024 12:36

I've got it too. I just went to do my guilty daily look at the DM & it's on their webpage too.

Redglitter · 02/09/2024 12:38

It's not just MN it's on numerous sites. It's horrible

NashvilleQueen · 02/09/2024 12:39

I started my own thread but have asked for it to be deleted.

I am not sure it is my browsing history. We can't all be looking at the same things online yet suddenly we are all seeing it multiple times. I don't use any gossip sites, don't read the Daily Mail and never open clickbait rubbish.

LamasPyjama · 02/09/2024 12:39

It's all over this thread. I've never seen so many adverts on one thread as an aside.

hellswelshy · 02/09/2024 12:49

I've had similar, only today, not bruised but picture of Sara Cox with mascara strewn face, so crying maybe? Not nice.

FiveFoxes · 02/09/2024 12:50

This is still going on. Surely MN should have blocked it by now whilst they investigate. I also can't believe that HQ aren't seeing this themselves - it's very prolific.

There's a growing thread about this on AIBU @HebeMumsnet if this helps. I've seen them on several threads today, most recent is the one below. (Screenshots hopefully attached) They pop up multiple times per thread for me and feature mostly Sara Cox but also another woman.

I'm also getting these on almost every thread. I don't think it's thread specific or even site specific.

Jb2182 · 02/09/2024 13:09

Yep, getting it too. Sara Cox on here and Jeremy Clarkson on Ladbible. Not nice

BloodyHellBob · 02/09/2024 13:16

I'm getting loads of these on every thread and more ads than usual. I'm on the app but not sure if it makes any difference. It's horrible!

loobylou10 · 02/09/2024 13:19

In all my threads too

AgileGreenSeal · 02/09/2024 10:05

I’ve just seen it too.
I’ve emailed [email protected]

a reply to my email just landed

“Hello there,

Thanks so much for reporting. We're aware of this and on the case.

Best wishes,
Pip
MNHQ”

longdistanceclaraclara · 02/09/2024 13:27

I'm getting the same on other sites too so presumably this is a Google issue not MN. Still not great.

RaraRachael · 02/09/2024 13:37

I was on Digital Spy and it was in between every single picture- Sara Cox, Jeremy Clarkson and a blonde girl I didn't know.
Awful.

kshaw · 02/09/2024 13:37

It's currently on every thread I go on, including this one
