surely its idlness

OP posts:
collision · 07/04/2008 10:45

It drives me mad when people to do this.

Have the courtesy to read the whole thing and then post otherwise you just repeat what the other posters have posted.

Yes this really irritates me, especially as often the OP gets clarified further down the thread with more information.

Lazy IMO.

lucykate · 07/04/2008 10:49

i have done it occasionally when in a rush but still having something relevant to add

only read the op
If a thread gets 285 posts or something, I don't read them, does anyone?

niceglasses · 07/04/2008 10:51

Do it all time. Don't see it as a problem - some threads huge. You can skim, get jist, if you say what someone else has said whats the problem? Some (smart arsed) fecker will tell you.

Its an open forum. You can use it how you like.

chocfest · 07/04/2008 10:51

have not even read the OP but im sure its a great thread!

Aitch · 07/04/2008 10:52

ah, but sometimes if someone is posting looking for advice and you can help, you can't be arsed looking at the whole thread to check if someone has said same already, hence 'haven't read OP' means 'i am aware that am probably duplicating existing advice but be grateful i am making the effort you dullard'.

If it has 285 posts though SSSandy it might mean it has kicked off and moved on, with bloodshed/apologies/deletions or whatever, so you run the risk of looking like a nong if you just merrily reply to the OP.
Tbh if I haven't read, I tend not to feel qualified to offer an opinion.

marina · 07/04/2008 10:53

Advice thread different to AIBU carnage agreed though, Aitch

SSSandy2 · 07/04/2008 10:53

Feel too timid for all that bloodshed though...

niceglasses · 07/04/2008 10:54

Sometimes I don't even skim!! Schlocck Horror.

I still think an honest reply to an OP is valid.

I don't bother with threads over around 200 posts - can't be arsed. Might still read them, but rarely post.

Oh I don't mind being a nong.

If I minded being a nong, I would read the whole thread and make notes.

SaintGeorge · 07/04/2008 10:58

Every fecker and his dog has my email addy cod, how can the fish not have it eh? Tskkkk

WanderingTrolley · 07/04/2008 10:59

I lol at the people who can't be bothered to read the opinions of others, but can be bothered to spill 14 paragraphs of invective at the OP.

There was once a thread where a mner was asking what to get her dd for her birthday, but missed out the word 'not' in her OP and thus provoked great ire with:

"She is very spoiled in a material way"

Thread had kicked off before OP realised her mistake. And this was before we all called each other cunts freely. So those who only read the OP were most offended, and also confused at the other posters saying, What about a jigsaw?

skyatnight · 07/04/2008 11:02

I haven't read the whole thread but I do think that it is valid to post an opinion anyway. If my opinion has become irrelevant due to precious posts, then just ignore me. That's what usually happens.

SSSandy2 · 07/04/2008 11:03

meant usually I read the thread but not when it gets too large like 200+ posts, in that case I'd only read one page if at all. Sorry, my post below sounds like I never read the thread!
