Hi @mnhq is it possible to please request a Muslim Board on here, a safe space for Muslims to have to speak freely about things that matter and should be discussed? Similar to that of the Jewish board.

I do think a thread about the current uptick in Anti-Muslim hate should be free of derailing, accusations of all lives mattering or dismissiveness, and but again, it’s worrying that you’ve said that it’s ‘jewish members’ doing this-how do you know they’re all Jewish? Why have you assumed they are?

I saw a single poster-not identified as Jewish- suggest that a request could be put to MNHQ for a Muslim MN board. This was in reply to a poster talking about the need for a safe space to discuss issues and referring to the Jewish MN board as an example.
Anyway, I’m sorry that Muslim posters are experiencing prejudice and hate speech and I hope to see the creation of the Muslim MNers board. I’d appreciate not being tagged or quoted any more because I really can’t stop myself from replying. It wasn’t my intention to keep going here but I think it’s really important that posters don’t resort to prejudiced exaggeration and mistruths about one minority in their pursuit of supporting another.

I think there should be a Muslim Board.

Also that it should not appear in Active.

Because it is relevant. The Jewish board was created because once the current conflict started, Jewish MNers wanted a safe place away from any antisemitism that arose during discussions about the conflict. The same does go for Muslims - a safe space away from the Islamophobia that is prevalent on discussions about the conflict and on the site as a whole. It is almost impossible for anyone to start a thread about something to do with Islamic religion or culture without the thread being hijacked.

Either MN doesn’t have separate spaces based on religion and culture at all, or it does.

Thanks to all those who have come on here to show your support regardless of faith, it is very much appreciated.
A muslim board would be nice, especially over Ramadhan and Eid and just for general day to day topics

As a Muslim I would love this. Particularly to talk about Ramadan, staying motivated for prayers, how people have come to Islam (I was born a Muslim but during my teens and early 20's actively rebelled against it before coming back to it in my late 20's), how reverts have felt about joining and their experience, growing up with a British and Muslim identity, whether being a Muslim is more cultural these days rather than religious - so much to talk about.

I'm used to not reading any threads regarding Islam to be honest, because my experience on this site is largely positive and I want to stay away from any negativity.

Oh for goodness' sake! What's wrong in members of one religion asking for a board for their religion, just like members of a specified religion have? It's not anti-semitic for Muslim posters to ask for a similar provision to that provided for Jewish posters.

It's a topic of relevance to many posters. Of course they can ask for it, and of course MNHQ can provide it.

I think it would be really nice to have a safe(r) space, and somewhere to discuss things without necessarily having to explain the whole background of something first. There's a lot of overt and more subtle prejudice around, and it would be nice to have somewhere with less of that.

Anyway, moving on, yes I support this too and agree that not appearing in active would be good too - I have occasionally contributed to the Jewish MNers board under a different name and I say this because not appearing in active definitely cuts out a lot of trolling/ people coming along to stir.

Good for you. You can therefore similarly be pleased to stay away from a Muslim board if one is created, as it’s attitudes like yours that means there is a need for such a space.
