Muslim Board

Hi @mnhq is it possible to please request a Muslim Board on here, a safe space for Muslims to have to speak freely about things that matter and should be discussed? Similar to that of the Jewish board.

Our dangerous ideas about biryani! 😂

I’m flabbergasted there needs to be such debate about it. I’m a revert Muslim of almost 3 years, married to a Moroccan Muslim man and we have a DS2. I’m still learning the religion for myself and also have a lot to learn to raise my child and teach him about Islam.

I have had loads of questions through these years and Google only goes so far. It would be great to be able to tap into the knowledge and support of other Muslim mums as my husband can only teach me so much, and I don’t have any other close Muslim friends or family.

Re the slow response from MN, I expect it is because of the easter break and backlog.
I'm another one who thought this would be a simple quick open-and-shut request - 'Can we have a Muslim board?' 'Oh, yes, why isn't it there already, whoops, here you are'
I was horrified when a strange reply presumably imported from conflict on another thread caused it to be derailed and become heated.
I'm not a Muslim and only came onto the thread because of that weird derail, but I wish Muslim MNers much joy of what I hope will be a very warm space. xx

@GoodOldEmmaNess I doubt it has anything to do with Easter and a backlog tbh. There are a few threads that have been created after Easter, one just yesterday and has received a reply from Mumsnet not long after being posted.

The many threads on 'site stuff' all seem to have had a quick response from @mnhq As someone said previously, this is getting rather embarrassing now.

@MNHQ please can someone let people know what's happening in relation to this request?

It's really bizarre that MN haven't even acknowledged this thread even if just with a holding post.

Suspect they will want to update with a decision, but it’s poor form to not even provide a holder.

It’s that or they’re hoping if they say nothing we will forget about it.

I was looking last night the last time a request was done for this. I found the request for the conflict in the Middle East board. Took hq a day to acknowledge the thread and I believe to do it

I support this idea.

@EasterIssland I think it has been requested before earlier on in the conflict but nothing has come from it.

@ing MNHQ is not the same as @ing a poster. It does not notify MNHQ. They also do not actively monitor the Site Stuff board any more than they do other boards (ie they don't monitor it). You have to report your post to draw their attention to it.

@Dilbertian I have done this and contacted them via the report button but still radio silence. They did however respond quickly to deleting a comment on here that I had reported. So do know about this thread.

Maybe if others can report and ask the same, they'll hear us x

I'm assuming there is behind the scenes discussions going on whether a Muslim board should be created or not.
If the answer is No it would still be better to have a response than silence though I suppose.

Because sometimes it’s nice, and sometimes it’s important, to talk to people who fully get where we’re coming from.

Why would you want to deny people the ability to do that?

It strikes me that the thing to do is have a Muslim board, a Hindu board, a Christian board, a Jewish board etc etc etc. just make the boards and move on.

Agree but “thanks op for raising it we will discuss it in hq. Bear with us until a decision is made” would be good rather than no answer at all
