Hi @mnhq is it possible to please request a Muslim Board on here, a safe space for Muslims to have to speak freely about things that matter and should be discussed? Similar to that of the Jewish board.

Hey @anotherlevel if we hide it from Active, especially as a new board, people are unlikely to know it exists. We'll monitor the situation as we go along and, of course, do report any concerning posts to us.

this has been a lovely thread with all the interfaith carb exchange going on.

Either start a new thread on Site Stuff or report a thread on your board, asking for the whole board to come out of Active.

I'm sorry if you're getting nasty posters on your board.

I am not a Muslim but some Muslim MNetters have said that they would be happy for me to post on that area and so I have done so.
I am really sorry you feel you have to hide this section, its an absolute disgrace and while MN can be good at zapping and deleting some comments around Islam/Muslims that have been allowed to stand have been shocking.
I had no idea how bad Islamaphobia was getting in The UK and why would I as a white non religious woman but my eyes have been opened recently.

A further request to please make the board not visible in Active.

People still come to the board just to leave anti-Islam comments. If posters wanted to be insulted or criticised by people who don't actually want to learn reasons for things or understand a different culture but just want to attack Islam, we could just post on AIBU or AMA instead. The faith/minority boards were supposed to be safer spaces, but while threads are still in Active and people can post unpleasant things without moderation, that's not happening.

The board does suffer from some unpleasant passers by.
Can it be removed from active now?

@Scirocco remember to @ a specific member of the team. Vigilance is not a noted attribute at MN.

Morning, everyone. Thanks for your further thoughts on this.

We do still have concerns that if the board doesn't appear in Active, people may not find it and it may not continue to grow organically, but we're happy to trial taking it out of Active and see how it goes.

If it does seem to reduce the cases of abusive posts being made and doesn't have a disastrous effect on how the board is populated, we'll look at making it a permanent move. But we can see that generally posters feel it would be useful so let's give it a go and see what happens.

In the meantime, please do report any nasty posts you see. We'll always treat reports like that as a priority and take these posts down, but more importantly, we want to make sure we aren't hosting people who want to post in this way and the sooner we can remove them the better.

I'm not sure it would solve the problem. I very rarely see the board appear on the list of active conversations as the list changes so quickly. Doesn't that point to the nasty posters seeking it out?

You should probably ask a Jewish person really.
However, my limited understanding is that being Jewish is a religion and/or a race. Some people are one or the other, both or neither.
