Hi @mnhq is it possible to please request a Muslim Board on here, a safe space for Muslims to have to speak freely about things that matter and should be discussed? Similar to that of the Jewish board.

@Suddenarabia why on earth do you think that MNHQ are debating the wisdom of having started a Jewish MNetters board?

Muslim posters should have their own board as other religious/ethnic communities do. Come on MNHQ give us an Eid present!

Surely if you're that against the Muslim board you should just disappear off onto one of the numerous other places on MN and talk to people who are interested in the same things as you. Off you go now lovely and let us keep talking recipes and Islam and whatever else we fancy. Nobody is going to rise to it xxxxx

I have absolutely no investment in whether there’s a Muslim board or not - why would I be massively against it? I said earlier I would prefer no religious boards at all but if there are some it’s no skin off my back is it?

Oh, and I don't think @JustineMumsnet would be very happy about portrayal of Mumsnet as just "a site mostly staffed by parents" - the inference being it is, somehow, not a proper business.

Hi all - we think there are a few things to clear up here and are happy to do so.

For new board requests there's usually a site stuff thread that we keep an eye on and read through to gauge interest as we are ultimately led by what MNers want. You can see this is the case on previous requests as it's not in anyone's interest to have loads of boards that don't get used.

We're sorry for the delay in responding - we have fewer people around at the moment and things are taking a bit longer than usual. Oh, and can confirm @MNHQ goes nowhere. You can @ us individually (can see lots of that, thank you!) or email [email protected].

If you have absolutely no interest in this topic might I suggest giving it no further headspace? You seem really stressed about this for someone who isn't remotely interested.

Thankfully the Stillbirth and Neonatal Loss board is very small, and thankfully few need it. But for those who do, I’m sure it is very a important source of support and information. A board for Muslim MNers is going to have a lot of traffic. Way more than the Jewish MNers boards but the latter is still very much appreciated by those of us who do need it.

It’s not like someone is requesting a Board for vintage Walkers crisp packet collectors.
