Dear Mumsnet please could we have a 'Larger Families' section?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 13/03/2008 20:31

rather like the 'multiples' section

it could be for 4+ children maybe and we can all get together and discuss how to run home soup kitchens/chinese laundry and whether or not Nick Leeson had the right idea for how to finance our broods?

I have mooted it before and people seem quite keen - it is different having a lot of children and it helps to have support

Thanks !

LTH.....if he had actually given you the go ahead to try for baby #5, and then you did indeed have sex with this in mind, and then he changed his mind but you had already conceived, what would he have done then????

PMSL laughing tho at the blow job analogy

ladytophamhatt · 22/03/2008 12:15

well, i was hoping with every fibre of my body that it had already worked and that it was too late for him to change his mind.
I even had one of those super rare false positive HPT (search under the name IncognitoforTTC, thats me) but my period arrived.
He breathed a sigh of relief and I was gutted.

He would have been happy too if it didn't arrive but he was quitey glad it had....

I do understand why he cahnged his mind, 4 is quite a lot (although not by the standards on this thread), adding another one would spread the time even more thinly etc etc etc, but he's worries were all worries that would be immediate, whereas I saw all of them as things that would get easier. The time thing would be harder at first but would get easier as teh big ones get older and wouldn't want us cramping theri style, they'd want us in differnt way to the little ones.

I have moments when I just want to say "Right...I'M deciding that we ARE having another one" but then i think I can't be bothered with teh argument.
We're in one of those rough patches atm anyway so its prob best not to right now....butthen its all his fault we're in the rough patch anyway....

can i scream??

AAAgggggggggggaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

thanks.

magnolia74 · 22/03/2008 12:19

Well no hangover this mornig...... We had a nice dinner, few bottle sof beer, couldn't decide whether to go out or not so by 9.45pm decided to stay home
Got the champagne out, had lovely sex and then slept till 6.30am but we didn't go to sleep till midnight so I actually got less sleep than usual

Breakfast in bed, bit more sex and ds1 was home by 10am coz my boobs were hurting

All the other kids are still out at them moment so Dh is happily watching football and I'm here

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 22/03/2008 12:19

psycho - yes we need a headcount

sadly as i am feeling slightly nauseous and with three kids down plus dp i have no time just atm

Peachy · 22/03/2008 12:20

I'm due on the 30th, but last scan said 28th so we shall see. DS1 was induced early (had eclampsia), ds2 came at 39 weeks, ds3 came at 41 weeks so no clues LOL!
On line doula-ing will be appreciated, when it gets really going will have a MN Doula actually here (how lucky am I?) but I am terrible in the first stages . it's my first home birth too so don't want to give in, panic and go into hospital.

Two of mine are special needs kids, so hospital far from practical (we live an hours drive from the nearest babysitter).

Psychomum5 · 22/03/2008 12:46

will try, altho forgive if I miss anyone as altho sickness seems to have abated for the time being (fingers crossed), I am still not really in 'normal' head mode ATM.

Psycho, well done on the head count, I'm sure there are lots more out there too.

sorkycake · 22/03/2008 13:52

How long do we have to wait to see if there is a new section for us all, does anyone know?

Has anyone any thoughts on what they could call it?

137wallis · 22/03/2008 17:31

i'm not on the list but am here! perhaps a good name would be compleate nutters and loonies annonomus,
although thats only as my 4 older ds have covered my house in mud and wet patches which the youngest wallis is crawling through as i type, and i have had snow down my front and now world war three is breaking out over who gets to choose what to watch on the tv, and dh is now joining in! sorry to rant but thanks for listening, feel much better now!

sorry was so cross posted that twice!

lljkk · 22/03/2008 17:47

Put me on list, too (4 dc)

zephyrcat · 22/03/2008 17:59

May I join too?!

We 'only' have 4 - which until I opened this thread felt like about 40!

Tiredmumov4 yours have the same age gaps as mine and are the same ages - how are you finding it??!

Mine are:

DD1: 6.3
DS: 3.9
DD2: 1.11
DD3: just coming up to 6 months

I have to admit I'm finding it an awful lot harder than I imagined we would!

kittywise · 22/03/2008 18:03

We took all 6 of them swimming this afternoon and there were no screaming fits at all, not even from dp .
Of course I was the one squashed into a cubicle with the 4 little ones. Don't know where dp and the oldest boys were
