Mumsnet thread pages keep refreshing page to be on homepage (shopping adverts)

Hello

When I’m on Mumsnet talk threads, the pages keep refreshing to be on the Mumsnet homepage (endlessly advertising me things to buy). The same goes for if I close my browser or go to a different window and then reopen - all Mumsnet pages seem to automatically refresh to the homepage / shopping adverts.

Not sure I’ve explained that very clearly…

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Still happening for me too

ribbonola · 25/11/2023 20:40

This is happening to me too. It happens randomly sometimes but seemingly always if I click a link in a thread (opens in new tab), go to that tab and then try go back to the original tab with the thread. The thread reloads to the very first post and then the whole thing goes and im on mumsnet homepage. Using back doesn't work to take me back to where I was. It's so so annoying. I'm on safari too.

Happening to me too - very annoying. Surprisingly convenient timing for an issue like this to arise :/

Yes and it’s strange how it goes to an advertising page rather than any other page of the hundreds available on Mumsnet 🤔

PinkFrogss · 26/11/2023 12:23

I think it might have stopped for me now.

letsgotothebeach · 27/11/2023 06:31

It’s still happening to me, it’s very annoying and I thought it was some marketing ploy.

HebeMumsnet · 27/11/2023 09:49

Morning, everyone. We're still trying to fix this we're afraid. Any further information is always useful though. If you haven't already, could you let us know if you have cleared your cache (that is worth doing if not), when the issue started for you and what device and browser you are using. Thank you Flowers

HebeMumsnet · 27/11/2023 12:13

If anyone is able to get a screen recording of this issue in action, and/or a link to the page it's happening on, that would also be really helpful.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 27/11/2023 15:49

I sent a screen recording in @HebeMumsnet, via email.

TheGriffle · 27/11/2023 21:14

I’ve just sent a couple of screen recordings of it happening as well via email.

PinkTonic · 27/11/2023 21:53

Just coming back for an update as this is still happening. I’m on safari on an iPad. It’s maddening.

TheGriffle · 28/11/2023 00:03

It’s so frustrating, especially on the Christmas bargains thread where I want to click on all the links!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 28/11/2023 11:07

I’ve got this too. If I leave the website for a few minutes, it bounces to this screen. Very irritating.

Still happening here too, and it's moved on now from Black Friday ads to Christmas stuff - just as @BeingATwatItsABingThing has posted above.

It's truly infuriating. I've done the cache clearing thing and I'm using safari on an iPhone 12. I'm amazed actually that more people haven't come on to this thread to vent!

Yes I had hoped it was just a random glitch but it does feel a bit cynical that they can’t fix the glitch that sends us to shopping pages.

I feel like Mumsnet is just constantly trying to get me to buy things now, so much more so than a few years ago. And I can’t trust the things they’re pushing anyway because so much of it is affiliate. Like, the emails are all saying how much ‘Mumsnetters are raving’ about Boden - when Boden is constantly being panned in Style and Beauty.

Shame.

It’s relentless, I’m sick of it.

Makemydaypunk · 28/11/2023 22:52

This has been happening continuously for 12 days now, this is ridiculous, why has it not been fixed? Utterly infuriating.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 29/11/2023 09:33

It’s making the site unusable!

MardiBras · 29/11/2023 21:06

Is this deliberate?
It’s extremely annoying.
Is it a ploy to generate revenue by forcing people to view the page?
Mumsnet will soon be like one of those local newspaper pages where you can’t see the article hIdden between multiple adverts

IcyColdAlice · 29/11/2023 23:13

What’s the betting this issue miraculously resolves after Christmas?

Musiclover234 · 30/11/2023 19:54

Yeah this is happening for me today too, any fixes? Does seem a bit sneaky that it’s on an advert page and it’s been a couple of weeks over Black Friday and Christmas shopping weeks…

Anyway it’s making the site unusable and I’ll come back maybe when it’s sorted. I can’t keep losing the thread and where I’m up to so frustrating

Makemydaypunk · 01/12/2023 14:10

I’m so pissed off, in the middle of reading a thread, make a cup of tea, go back to the tab and takes me to the sales page, now I can’t find the thread, I shouldn’t have to make a note of which section a thread I am reading is on. I’m guessing Mumsnet don’t give a shit as it’s been like this for 2 weeks now. I’m amazed this thread isn’t full, is it only happening to a select few? @HebeMumsnet

BusterGroove · 01/12/2023 16:30

It’s happening to me too! It’s infuriating - I’ve pretty much given up using Mumsnet.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 02/12/2023 11:35

I’ve given up on it too, only come on to check my SAD thread for support. Hopefully this will help to kick my Mumsnet addiction 😂.

Flimpychunk · 05/12/2023 21:18

Fucking hell, started a post to say how annoying it was, went to settings to check what model iPhone I had and when I came back, the page had gone as it had switched to the homepage and I’d lost my post!

I’m using a safari browser on an iPhone 11 and it’s really infuriating how the page keeps disappearing.
