miserable mumsnetters and MY mental health!

I love mumsnet or, at least, I did until recently...
but there are two posters who really give me the groan factor whenever I see their names appear..I know they are never going to say anything remotely positive about anything. And its irritating the way they try to focus the thread's attention on themselves with each post they make. Its really depressing to see their names crop half way through my enjoyment of reading a good debate or a chatty thread.
So my question is...can I block posts from these specific people so that I dont have to read their posts on a thread, at least until they change their name? At the moment, I can only avoid those threads that they start.

They really are depressing and if I didn't have to go to an enormous effort to try and avoid their clouds of doom and gloom because they weren't there to read, mumsnet would be easier and more enjoyable!

Susie - I agree with you that this thread makes me angry.
What I love about mnet is that all life is here - so 1 person is bouncing along ok, 2 people are a bit down, 1 is a bit too much pre-occupied with amtico and 1 person is the depths of despair. So - you rally round and haul them out because one day, if your life turns to crap and the foundations of your self and happiness crumble into the sea - there will be someone here to haul you out!

expatinscotland · 04/03/2008 22:48

Well, makemyday, what's wrong with it?

It's rude to moan about 'two posters' and go on and on about how they affect your - a total stranger in cyberspace - health, when you could have simply asked, 'Is there a way to block or ignore the posts of individual members?'

Aero · 04/03/2008 22:49

LGJ!

lol @ rantlock cod - great word!

susiecutiemincepies · 04/03/2008 22:49

fairyfly · 04/03/2008 22:51

WW, could you tell i was slightly not used to adult converstaiton today . Thanks x

NorthernLurker · 04/03/2008 22:52

Makemyday - in saying you want to block posters you see as needyand/or depressing, it seems that you are saying you don't care two hoots what happens to them - these are people reaching out for some help and support and you are seriously wanting to say 'not interested'? That's quite breathtakingly shallow and selfish in my view.

FAQ - a {{{hug}}} for you - sorry to read what you're facing right now.

UniversallyChallenged · 04/03/2008 22:54

Does it really affect people that much when things are said here?

No one knows you, sat at your little computor typing away.... really find it hard to believe people take things so personally. I could pass you in tesco tomorrow and you would have no idea i am the person who make you upset last night

Why would something written by an anon person to an anon person in cyberspace make any difference in your day to day life? Seriously - I do not understand!!

FAQ · 04/03/2008 22:54

Thanks NL

susiecutiemincepies · 04/03/2008 22:55

NO, actually, I am FUMING! really really fuming!

Don't read the posts makemyday! simple. it really is that simple. how dare you start such a horrible thread, which does nothing but upset those who are in need of help, at a time when they really bloody well need it!

FAQ: dont let this upset you. please Its NOT worth it, and it is NOT the view of the rest or any where near the majority of MN. Whatever you may be going through at the moment, do not feel you cannot talk about it here, with anyone. please

Twats like this hold the polar opposite view of the vast majority of MNetters. As such, should be ignored. in fact, this thread should be ignored. why are we fueling this crap?

QuintessentialShadow · 04/03/2008 22:57

"I have a special penchant for OPs who start threads about specific posters they refuse to name - or even that they name - to bitch about them."

Well said expat.

And not to mention when they namechange to do so.

UniversallyChallenged · 04/03/2008 22:57

susie has the OP said it's FAQ then?

expatinscotland · 04/03/2008 22:57

Bravo, susie.

Same goes for you, Greeny.

FAQ · 04/03/2008 22:58

no UC she hasn't - said it's not me - but when I've just started a thread about H moving out next weekend seeing this thread doesn't exactly help me feel any better.

Any why is this still in "threads I'm on" when I've chosen to hide it ..

Greensleeves · 04/03/2008 22:58

expat

expatinscotland · 04/03/2008 22:59

Meaning, don't let one rude person get you down, Greeny and FAQ!

susiecutiemincepies · 04/03/2008 22:59

No! not at all! Its just that FAQ said she wished she'd not read this thread as she was feeling really crappy... thats all! I didn't mean to imply that it was her in the slightest! shit! no, that wasn't what I meant!!!

FAQ, i was responding to your comment, NOT saying it was you! oh, please don't think that! Its the last hting I meant...

expatinscotland · 04/03/2008 22:59

Hang in there, FAQ.

UniversallyChallenged · 04/03/2008 23:00

Oh i see, sorry am a bit dim and very easily confused!

Sorry you having such a rotten time xx

QuintessentialShadow · 04/03/2008 23:00

Ok, nothing to see here, move along now folks, move along.

( hugs to Faq, and to all of us who feel a little miffed by this.)

Now, can we all move on to my chicken pox vs molluscum thread? Good Mumsnetters now, off!
ME ME ME ME. lets talk about me.

WendyWeber · 04/03/2008 23:03
