We've just done the second stage of this - the for sale and wanted topics are gone, and we've replaced them with a For Sale / Wanted category, with topics for various types of item you might want to buy / sell. They should show up at the bottom of the main topic lists on this page.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Ta.

I think the reason the cat fee will deter the scammers is that, by having to use a card, you need to input a matching address for home and card billing address. Its doesn't appear to me, to be about the amount you have to pay, but the details you have to give to sign up. This alone should deter the scammers, no?

FAQ · 28/02/2008 13:45

Clare - I can't see the detering the scammers - they same thing applies to having a paypal/ebay sellers account........but there are plenty of scammers on there sadly.

LIZS · 28/02/2008 15:51

Don't you have to give bank details or fcard details to have a paypal acount anyway ? Agree it is the principle of trackability in registering which may deter some scammers and noone is forcing you to use CAT to communicate just to be registered as a seller. In the past you were able to send a cheque to a MN PO box to subscribe, nto sure if that is still the case.

FAQ · 28/02/2008 15:55

yes but having bank details doesn't mean that you have a debit or credit card

lecohen · 29/02/2008 08:42

Hi all...I have some items pending in the old for sale board and now can't correspond on them

MissyTheFlouncer · 29/02/2008 08:45

i cant use them full stop i have no cards so cant subscribe to cat

i like the way its laid out from aquick glace

LadyMuck · 29/02/2008 08:45

I thought that Mumsnet used some 3rd party to process the CAT fees (Worldpay or someone?). Are MN really privy to our credit card details?

FAQ · 29/02/2008 09:17

Missy - I'm sure someone yesterday arranged to send a postal order to MN to pay for their CAT (costs an extra 85p or something like that) so you could look into that

moljam · 29/02/2008 10:15

how would you find out about that that faq?i asked on thread yesterday but didnt hear anything.

debbie102 · 29/02/2008 12:47

Techc a quick Q. In Unanswered threads is it possible to group all the For Sale/Wanteds together rather than have each category in its alphabetical place. Takes an age to skim through now and can't ignore.

Nataz27 · 29/02/2008 20:39

I know its just one payment. And I did read that HUGE thread. My point being I didnt know it was going live as of yesterday, otherwise I would have asked those who were buying things of me for a way to contact them outside of MN. I see from reading this that Im not the only one who had threads running that are now lost. Seems unfair that decent MN's should be punished in this way. I may pay in future but I shouldnt be foreced to in order to finish threads that were started before this began.

AND stop picking on people who dont have plastic... not everyone has succumed to it.

LIZS · 01/03/2008 09:25

You're not being forced to do so . The old For Sales are there again for now.
