We've just done the second stage of this - the for sale and wanted topics are gone, and we've replaced them with a For Sale / Wanted category, with topics for various types of item you might want to buy / sell. They should show up at the bottom of the main topic lists on this page.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Ta.

justwaterformethanks,
you shouldnt feel bad about what you said. its mildmannered who shown not verymildmannered, jumping out nowhere and laughing her socks off.
i dont get some mners who picking on people use for sale board regularly. its like i must shout(every opportunity) how i hate for sale huns and it will make me real mner.
who is the regular anyway?

what is the problem? as long as mnhq decided to keep this board, just accept it.

who cares if people use the whole site or just one section?? it doesnt make you a regular if you use all sections. you will probably find those who post only in the for sale section have helped out an awful lot of mums and so what if they havent posted anywhere else, thats not abusing the facility thats using it. It seems like its always other posters V for sale on this site fgs grow up

Mummyof2boys · 27/02/2008 21:22

i agree Flibbertyjibbet im moving on, cant be doing with this anymore

BenFMsmum · 27/02/2008 21:28

Me too mummyof2boys. I've used other parts of the site but haven't actually sold anything although advetised for sale. I've given away for free though, does that make things better?? I thought the whole idea of the site was for people to use as they wanted and not have to have a chat so that they can sell/pass something on!!

OliviaMumsnet · 27/02/2008 22:05

Diva, good idea re: maternity clothes - we'll see what we can do.

moljam · 27/02/2008 22:12

so i can no longer do it as dont have card.fantastic!

tortoise · 27/02/2008 22:15

Me either moljam. Great isn't it!

Nataz27 · 27/02/2008 22:16

How totally rediculous not to inform people before hand i.e yesterday that this was gonna happen. How are people who were busy selling stuff etc meant to respond to those who wanted to buy yesterday. I am being forced to spend the money just to reply to someone that I have posted their items or have received their cheques. Doesnt this make it easy for people to take advantage and take peoples money...!!!!!
I'm sure I'm not the only one who had an active conversation now cut short by the new rules.
Surely it would have made more sense to say that all new threads would have to pay, but that old ones had 1 week before being switched. That way everyone would have had a fair chance

WallOfSilence · 27/02/2008 22:18

I can't believe half of these names all the numbers...and all the mummys...

I have never seen half of these around the boards. DOn't you girls use the rest of the board?

You should you know, it's great fun

moljam · 27/02/2008 22:21

i use the rest of the board lots actually and because i dont have a card-i'll be only on the other boards.

tortoise · 27/02/2008 22:22

I use the rest of the board lots too.

Nataz27 · 27/02/2008 22:24

Second that !!!!

WallOfSilence · 27/02/2008 22:25

I know moljam tort, nab.. just all those strange numbery ones I don't recognise

Anyway, why should I care who posts where.. I was just commenting & it's none of my business

tortoise · 27/02/2008 22:25

Nataz27 I agree there should of been some notice before stopping the old threads.

moljam · 27/02/2008 22:28

WallOfSilence dont blush it doesnt suit you.

Nataz27 · 27/02/2008 22:35

I just feel sorry for all the mums out there in the middle of buying or selling and have been frozen out of the threads. I'm certainly not gonna pay £5 just to tell someone I've sent their parcel. Cant imagine many people will.

BenFMsmum · 27/02/2008 23:11

I was out of pocket anyway by giving my stuff away for free - my choice I know - but I will definately be thinking twice about paying £5 when I obviously did not have the kind of things people wanted to buy. Nothing I advertised sold!! . I did enjoy browsing the wanted pages though to see if I had anything that someone else wanted. Not so easy to do in this format.

LIZS · 28/02/2008 08:25

nataz , it is only one fee, not per CAT. Once you have established contact via CAT you can get the other person's email address anyway. Agree the old threads should be archived for now, then expire after the normal 30 days though, for reference purposes only.

debbie102 · 28/02/2008 09:46

themildmanneredjanitor

Just for the record, i do use ebay to sell my stuff also and i use here and visit other parts of the board, not as oftern as you thats obvious, but its because of people like you with comments like that and a nasy attitude that i dont, its enough to put anyone of visiting the other boards.
I agree that things had to change but we had no warning of when this was going to happen some people mite have been in the middle of a sale or a transaction and will not be be able to contact the other person, i see the old boards have gone back now so people can finish what they were doing. And its not a shame that i dont a credit or debit card at all i choose not to have one.

loobie2 · 28/02/2008 09:50

Im not sure that having to pay £5 fee will keep the scammers away!
They make far too much money to worry about £5 a year.

I have lost contact with everyone i was dealing with now as i wont be paying the fee and cant contact them.

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 09:51

you missed a HUGE thread (possibly threads knowing MN) about what to do with for sale/wanted etc. it was linked several times onto forsale. temporary guidelines were drawn up-by regular SELLERS i might add. and the majority of MN suggested CAT as a way of making an improvement.

Its not like there was no notice.

If you depseratly need to sell things then there are NCT sales that you can sell with (and make money) which i don't think you need a card to sign up for, there is also the option of selling using your local paper or advertising in baby clinics.

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 09:52

debbie102....i thought u needed a card to register on ebay? or was that just when i registered years ago??

2shoes · 28/02/2008 09:54

wow talk about people never being happy.

debbie102 · 28/02/2008 10:01

No you dont need a card to register on ebay, you can pay the fees through your paypal account which is good, also yes i do agree that things neeed improving on there re the scammers but as loobie said the 5.00 fee wont deter them if they intend to make hundreds, theyl find a way.
the notice that was given i do think we all saw and we did expect thisto happen but to just have it done without even a days notice or an hours notice wasnt good.
Like ive already said i do use other sites to buy and sell and also ebay and post on other boards on different sites were i feel comfortable , but people who have made friends on that board, some of which carnt get in contact now, im just giving my opinion, i know i have made alot of good friends on there, who have got me through alot including all my chemo fortunatly i was lucky i have there address and numbers some people havent it just a shame.
the boards are back up now so hopefully people will get these details and be able to get in contact again.
Sorry to go on didnt realise this was so long
