Been a MNer for 16 years I think. For the first time ever, I’m finding nothing to read. The same threads hang around for days and days. Active is a longer list than it used to be, but seems to have threads that have not been added to.

I will keep popping in because FWR is so informative, but I no longer feel this is somewhere to come for entertainment or amusement. (Although I did lol at Frubes for the fanjo yesterday!)

I feels like the site was 10 years ago - I'm an oldie

Doyoumind · 24/06/2022 20:58

I find it all quite boring now and struggle to find threads that I want to engage with most days.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 24/06/2022 21:14

I confess to sighing most days.

Mostly a frothy non dilemma, a wail of ‘oh whatever shall I do?’ And two or three supporting posts later, they’ve seen the light, actioned whatever and have gone all sharny on someone’s harris.

And if you pick a hole - out comes the tsunami. Why bother with a drip feed when you can go all out drook?

MarshaBradyo · 25/06/2022 08:11

Update more topics off list due to unfortunates resorting to personal attack

it’ll just be echo chamber threads but hey at least there’s parking or whatever

Probably for the best I’ll just avoid more

Hi I just wanted to drop in and give a one week update. Last week I hid Aibu, relationships, divorce and every small child related topic,( I have teens, all pet topics ( i have none) though I kept parenting and things like chat.

I can report back that mn is on the whole back to being a wonderful supportive site and I'm loving the higher proportion of style and beauty!

S&B hasn't made me buy anything for aaggges Sad
their constant enablement was one of my favourite things about that board.

partystress · 25/06/2022 11:02

Inspired by PPs, I’ve hidden a ton of topics, including AIBU, and am 12 hours on am feeling less depressed about the state of the place. Thank you for suggesting.

Love you Sheldon Grin

I wasn’t here when it was all green fields. They’d just started construction when I first came along.

No green fields now.

Plenty of bridges though.

The only thing hairier than some folks’ hands is my chin. All my chinny reckoning is encouraging growth… 🧐

JaneJeffer · 25/06/2022 16:14

More bridges than Venice.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 25/06/2022 18:34

Aye but just one cornetto won’t keep them full.

The Gondolieri are going to have to scull to the shops.

Not sure what for though. Do you get outrage in a bap?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 25/06/2022 18:36

Sorry. Panini.

The thing is people won't care about the reasons. So many forums and social media platforms have gone under over the years because people get fed-up with technical issues.

Yeah. People get pissed off and move on. The recent site rejig has just been a disaster.

There are a more threads that appear to be journalistic in style and dare I say..... Maybe from inside? Not trolling, just definitely designed to get a response.

I have noticed this too. Lots and lots of chat threads on well-worn topics and the op ending with "tell me your views on this" or "anyone had a similar experience".

Of course there are the usual trolls and the topics list being meaningless because of the over-use of AIBU (which I have been moaning about loudly for years!!) but I don't think I'll really get back into Mumsnet until they fix advanced search.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 26/06/2022 08:42

Yes agree @A580Hojas

I absolutely loathe those opening posts that end with, ‘tell me about your similar experiences and make me feel better about my ridiculously fake scenario!’

And people do - and lots of them are fake too.

As a style of attracting content, it’s all a bit tedious and suspicious. And no, I’m still not keen on reporting until there’s more info on how that data leak happened and what the ICO think about it.

HappydaysArehere · 26/06/2022 11:32

This morning looked on politics as expecting response to last few days happenings but nothing - all out of date. So different on Gransnet.

invisibleoldwoman · 28/06/2022 18:48

Recently Mumsnet seemed to be wall to wall sad, tragic, dire relationship problems mainly in AIBU. No funny, quirk, interesting threads. From this thread I realised I needed to stop staying in active/trending threads and make the effort to visit the boards I am interested in directly. The big win is learning how to hide all the stuff that is repetitive or I am not interested in. All of a sudden even the active feed is more varied and interesting.
