@MNHQ this deletion message is untrue and not fair to the OP of the thread.

What?
OP posts:
MrsDrake · 25/05/2022 19:35

Do MNHQ usually reply to these types of threads with an explanation?

Gazelda · 25/05/2022 19:36

One of the good things that came out of the recent site upgrade, was that I'd previously hid Feminist chat because I didn't think I needed to read it.

But when the site was updated, I was unable to hide the topic.

And I've been avidly reading the threads ever since.

Wow, I'm so glad my eyes are being opened. I'm sad for my daughter that she's growing up in a world where her voice is being silenced.

ScootsMcHoy · 25/05/2022 19:36

That is outrageous.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 25/05/2022 19:36

Mass mail?

I'm guessing you mean the bog standard automated message that is sent to whoever reports a post, be it 1 person or 100? Do you think if you're the only one to report a thread you get a detailed and personalised reply to stroke your broken feelings?

You're showing yourself up by twisting everything to suit your narrative, anyone with basic cognitive capabilities will see right through it.

ilovemyspace · 25/05/2022 19:37

@MNHQ so can you please explain to us what was the actual unacceptable content?

JellySaurus · 25/05/2022 19:37

Badqueen · 25/05/2022 19:09

The thread was riddled with homophobia and transphobia. The op's original post literally said they were uncomfortable about the picture of a pregnant transman. Didn't give a reason, just said that a photo of a transperson made them uncomfortable. That's transphobia. Someone else ridiculed the idea that a hospital would put any resources (even the 5p it costs to print a poster) into catering to LGBT people. That's homophobic and transphobic. then other people were using hypothetical muslim women as a perfectly acceptable reason to be bigoted against transmen seeking maternity care. That's racism.

If you can't see that, then you've probably spent too much time on FWR.

That is incorrect. The OP said she was uncomfortable about the picture of a pregnant man. Did she know it was a picture of a pregnant transman? Probably not at first. But nothing transphobic at all in the OP.

Badqueen · 25/05/2022 19:37

PaddleBoardingMomma · 25/05/2022 19:30

Seriously?

I have to wonder about the mentality of people with this view point. Are you not phased by the bizarre eradication of language in regards to women to appease the very small minority? Cervix havers, bleeders, menstruaters, chest feeders, birthing person?

Are you not concerned that womens spaces are free to be used by men, no matter how inappropriate and uncomfortable it makes women? Men identifying as women in female prisons, female changing areas, womens sports? That there is a womens rape crisis centre run by a man in a dress?

If non if this causes you concern I can only presume you are either a man who has no concept of what it's really like to be a woman, a TRA who has swallowed the "be kind" ideology without having the mental capacity to understand it's at the detriment of women, or... you hate women and are happy we are being erased?

Answers on a postcard please.

None of that has anything to do with the poster that was photographed. It was a poster asking people to treat lgbt patients with respect and saying that abuse is not tolerated. Or should we only respect females and their right to healthcare if they adhere to gender stereotypes?

I'm a gender critical woman. I just don't think transphobia or homophobia is acceptable.

Well lucky you for seeing the deletion message.

Deleted threads disappear into the ether for me.

Utter bollocks.

Me too… I assumed it was one of the new “features” Hmm

Next update will be a name change to "BirthingPersonsNet" or maybe "GenderNeutralTransWomenAreWomensNet"

Do MNHQ usually reply to these types of threads with an explanation?

I think it would be helpful in this case if they did! Just so we know what they actually consider to be transphobic .......

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2022 19:39

I couldn't care less if it was about trans people or aliens from outer space my problem is that MN unfairly accused the OP of something they didn't do. What if they accuse someone of racism and delete the thread and the deletion message. How can someone prove their innocence? It's bullshit.

I've had personal responses to posts I've reported.

If it says "sorry for the mass email" I usually assume that a lot of people reported.

I reported the MNHQ deletion message, not the thread because I added something I think is important to it, and was told that the premise of the post was uncivil towards trans people.

Well, having read every post before it disappeared I can tell you that the uncivil posts were made by those accusing OP of being uncivil, mean and nasty, transphobic etc, suggesting all sorts of things that hadn't been said. That is how threads like that get taken down.

So thanks, @Badqueen I shall simply start a new thread reminding everyone about the importance of the NHS staying out of identity politics

I don’t think TWAW, I don’t care if language is made more inclusive, I don’t care if people want me to put my pronouns on my work email.

mixed sex toilets are fine if the cubicles are contained with a sink in it - they are at my work. Otherwise they should be designated single sex but equally I’m not that bothered if a trans woman decided she would rather use female toilets if it makes her feel safer.

Transwomen should not be in prisons or competing in sport against female bodied people. Women should have the right to ask for a female doctor or counsellor.

what I don’t like is the lack of respect for anyone else’s viewpoint to be found on MN and the wide eyed surprise when the blatant transphobia is pointed out.

Hallyup89 · 25/05/2022 19:44

People were pointing out that, potentially, women from ethnic minorities were not getting the treatment that they rightly deserve due to budgets being skewed towards campaigns such as this one. That's racist. How dare women who are more at risk from particular complications due to their ethnic background be pushed to one side?

MrsDrake · 25/05/2022 19:45

@Badqueen where was the racism?

I struggle to believe a gender critical woman would want to get an entire thread, which had many constructive posts from both view points, deleted.

And I’m still aghast at that MN deletion message which seems akin to a personal attack on the op imo. It’s genuinely shocked me out of signing up for premium (which I’m under no delusions mn would even notice one missing subscription but that is how much I previously respected being able to have this space).

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2022 19:46

Total hypocrisy @FleurDeLizz

I don't know if you've been here long, but it wasn't my decision if the whole thread goes. I'm very glad it did though.

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2022 19:47

Of course you are @Badqueen because now you can make up things about it that weren't there

OP posts:
MrsDrake · 25/05/2022 19:49

@Badqueen you said you reported it, doesn’t that indicate a desire to have the thread deleted?

Can I ask again where the racism was?

FleurDeLizz · 25/05/2022 19:50

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2022 19:46

Total hypocrisy @FleurDeLizz

There’s that lack of respect I’m talking about.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 25/05/2022 19:50

@FleurDeLizz

Well now you're just contradicting yourself.

A trans woman should be welcomed into female toilets if it makes them feel safe, but not into a female prison... why is that? Is it because they are... biologically men? 🤔

wishitwasaduvetday · 25/05/2022 19:51

If that's a reason for deleting a thread should probably get rid of half of the threads in Feminism.. I've seen some vile attitudes on there that definitely aren't feminist.. just hateful to trans people.
