The site is getting gradually less and less useable...

I actually mind the new site when it was first launched. It was a bit different but I thought people were making an unnecessary fuss and that they, and I, would get used to it.

It's just getting less and less useable now though. First there were the minor frustrations, like the search function not working any more. Then there was the thing where the site kept logging me out all the time, despite having the box ticked to keep me logged in. Sometimes it would force me out at the end of writing a long post, so I would lose everything I had written. That issue seems to have subsided now, but instead, the site just keeps crashing. Constantly. Either I'm stuck with a blank white screen when I try to scroll past the ads, or the page just freezes without warning and stops responding. It definitely isn't my phone or my browser (default one on android) - I can use other sites without any difficulty.

I love MN but the endless string of problems is now getting me to the point where I just don't feel that it's worth the level of frustration that I feel when I'm trying to use the site. I don't enjoy it much now because of the endless issues.

MNHQ, is there really nothing you can do to get the site functioning properly again, like it used to do? I will have to find something else to do if not, because it just isn't worth the effort at the moment!

But really MN HQ, that message which comes up when the server crashes about having a strong cuppa is the biggest load of sexist shite which has presumably either been written by a man to make it look like you have an office full of women “nattering” and giggling over the site, or it’s been written by a woman who needs to get back into this century. Please don’t patronise your users like this.

And please fire whoever it was you hired to build this site. 3 years it apparently took. They must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Completely agree with this about the error message. We get patronised enough in RL, I don't want it here too.

How many people need to log the same bloody issues though?!
I have a thread about the black adverts covering the screen. It’s been going on for weeks. I’ve seen other threads about it too.
The screen regularly refreshes and now there are hundreds of posts on one page you lose your place each time.

And when for the love of god will the start of a new sentence automatically use a capital letter?!

so annoying.

In terms of replies disappearing as you type, that happened to me on the old site too.

The long white page is HORRIBLE! There’s too many steps to find anything. It’s just much more effort than before.

On safari on an iPad - it just keeps crashing.

I prefer the app, but am refusing to update until issues are fixed. In the iPad app I still have

  • code for paragraph returns in some posts.

    I have asked this before and will ask again: was any software testing done AT ALL before the new platform was launched? If so, I hope your (presumably contract) testers don't ever work for Air Traffic Control or the NHS...

    I’m also always having my pages turn completely white when I’m reading a thread.

    I will be scrolling down a thread and suddenly it will all disappear and for a few seconds the screen will be completely white, and although the screen does re-appears it puts me back at the very start of the thread again. So then I have to start scrolling down it again to find where I last was….and the same thing happens. It’s infuriating.

    I use Google Chrome on my IPhone.

    The "upgrade" removed my posting facility for weeks.

    It is now reinstated.

    PUT IT ALL BACK HOW IT WAS, THE UPGRADE IS A DISASTER.

    the quote with everything in a vertical column makes them unreadable to work out who wrote what.

    I don't seem to be having the issues that others are having, but my annoyance is that when I go into my Active/Watching sections, it looks like I have new posts to look at when I don't. All posts are now highlighted, annoying!

    I can't post on the app any more (iphone) despite being logged on and on Premium. I've meant to post on one of these threads for ages but have written a few ...... which wouldn't post so I've eventually decided to go via the desktop to add my voice to the others who don't like the new site.

    I've also got the "new notification/new message" dots around my user name when there's nothing new.

    That's all really annoying - but the worst thing is that as I suspect lots of people are having the same problem, the number of threads and posts definitely seems to be reduced.

    Perhaps this is the kick I need to leave MN!

    It is unusable for me on a desktop as mentioned previously and my only reply from MN is to post a screenshot. I have no idea how to do that. The photos are too small to view even when clicked on. Not sure why that cant be resolved without a screen shot. Please return to the old format. This change is not inclusive. Has anyone with accessibility issues said the new format is an improvement as I am very concerned that it is the reverse.

    @ImaniMumsnet could you point us to the location of the current issue list collated by MN? This will allow us to see what has been logged, which browser/OS combos it's been reported on, any available workarounds, whether it's previously been marked as resolved (i.e. it's a regression issue) and (preferably) an approx resolution date. It will also mean we do not waste time reporting issues which MN is aware of/already working on. Ideally you would also allow the end users to vote on which issues they would like to see resolved first.

    They did have users test the site, but on a previous thread some of them said they eventually just gave up as there were never any responses to issues logged.

    The search missing or unusable for me is the real bug bear. I like to help people about certain topics but I can't find those via a keyword search any more.

    1. Slider useless I used to be able to search for all new chats with x word in them, but now the slider for the date is just unuseable on iOS as you can't get it to do anything like last week, best I seem to do is last year and I really don't want that. I search by a user and the slider picks some random end date in 2017 and I can't get to find any more recent ones
    2. I can't even find search in Chrome except for a general one that searches whole of mumsnet
    3. I type a word like Petts Wood and it comes up with some results but then I apply the slider and some of the recent results disappear. Just doesn't make sense.
    4. I can remember threads I was on but they don't necessarily come up in the search but I can't find them now as the search doesn't seem to work
