I get this in every second thread I open this morning. It’s hiding all the posts on a page.

Using safari on iPad.

Active threads - I can’t believe this is still going on - am using safari on iPad

For every thread I have opened today, I get a huge ad for Jersey. It completely covers the screen, and even if I scroll past it, half of the post it covers up is missing.

Using Firefox on a desktop.

It's even more annoying than the 'float down the screen' ad I get on a Kindle Fire when using Silk.

soniamumsnet · 30/09/2021 15:45

Hi @cantkeepawayforever thanks for reporting this and sorry it's been causing you problems.

We're taking a look into this now. Flowers

ElBandito · 30/09/2021 16:34

Yes, happening again to me today. I can't understand why it's so hard to sort out

I'm still getting it too.

antidisestablishmentarianism · 01/10/2021 08:00

Still happening to me I am on an iPad with chrome. I was on aibu if that helps.

Fluffandbubbles · 01/10/2021 08:58

Still happening, ipad mini with safari

Chemenger · 01/10/2021 09:42

IPad and Safari. I see you are struggling so hard to solve this problem that a new advert, for Disney Cruises has appeared. Why not just admit that this is all intentional and you’re waiting for us to give up complaining?

Seeline · 01/10/2021 09:44

I've been getting this on edge/windows laptop.

It cuts in before one post is finished and when you scroll down through the advert to 'continue with content' you've lost the end of the first post and the beginning of the next (I assume it's the next - can't see if any more are missing).

I logged on to mumsnet at about 3am this morning when I couldn't sleep. For some reason an advert (womens voice with an english accent) started blaring out of my phone without me clicking on it. No other ads on any other sites have done this. It woke up my husband and my DS who were in the room with me.

I still couldn't sleep so I left the room and it did it again, so it isn't a one off. Why is mumsnet shouting at me in the middle of the night all of a sudden?

soniamumsnet · 01/10/2021 10:19

Hi - @Seeline just dropping in to say thanks for the report and screenshots. We'll take a look at that ad now.

@NeverHomeAlone please can you let us know what the ad was for and where you were on the site as this isn't typical behaviour - again any screenshots would be really helpful. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this for you. Flowers

NeverHomeAlone · 01/10/2021 10:38

Hi @soniamumsnet. I quickly clicked off it as I didn't want the noise to continue, and didn't take note of where I was at the time. I will let you know if it happens again.

soniamumsnet · 01/10/2021 11:29

Thanks @NeverHomeAlone Flowers

QuestionEverythingBaby · 01/10/2021 16:39

And buy mumsnet premium 😂

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 01/10/2021 22:42

@MNHQ people are really just fed up now of "The Greatest Hits of MNHQ". Angry

If it's not "Send us a screenshot" it's "Tell us your browser and device". Neither of which seems to result in any action whatsoever. Sad

Not to mention the latest hit single titled "We're looking into it..." (which seems to go on for days and weeks. I mean, you're the host website and you've had more than enough info - how hard can it be MNHQ ?

(Family member works in IT - says it shouldn't be this hard for you to fix... unless you don't want to...?)

Anyway, I'm a long-standing user of adblockers and nothing I'm reading about on mumsnet is convincing me to change that. And, sadly, I suspect there are now many more mumsnet pp now thinking any adblockers are better than MNHQ's lack of action on intrusive and non-turn-offable ads these last few weeks.

And I'm really pissed off that Jersey has been tainted by this issue. There's no way Jersey tourism would want this negative experience by people being 'forced' to read its ads. And yet that's what's happening.

@MNHQ stop running ads for Jersey until you've sorted out this awful intrusive ad issue. You're really hurting our island with negative vibes when we need to recover after Covid. Angry

CeeceeBloomingdale · 02/10/2021 08:11

The companies advertising are getting a raw deal, paying MN for the advertisements only for them to be tainted by this. I will personally be boycotting any brand that is involved. I feel sorry for the brands but MN will only act when it starts affecting their own pockets.

Suitcaseseverywhere · 02/10/2021 08:27

What I don’t understand is why we need to send details of our devices and browsers. Don’t the team have access to different devices and browsers to replicate the issue?

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 02/10/2021 12:44

We are so sorry that the ads affecting your use of the site are continuing to be an issue. Our ad team was dealing with this directly yesterday and so we're hopeful we'll have a more meaningful update for you soon.

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 02/10/2021 23:09

@MNHQ this is a question many have been asking recently but still no reply to this very simple question, nor any explanation. So, for once and for all, please can you explain why you keep asking for devices and browsers when you/ your IT dept shouldn't need any of that info from us - you should be set up to replicate these things anyway. If that's wrong then feel free to clarify...

I'm beginning to think asking for devices and browsers is nothing more than a delaying technique by MN. Ask posters over and over again to make it look like they're interested in the issue, rather than fix the problem.

GillBiggeloesHair · 03/10/2021 09:20

As there is never any response I can only assume it is a stalling tactic.
And I maintain that 'tech' /ads team' is someone's teenage son working out of his bedroom. Otherwise, this would have been sorted months ago.

If it was a teenager it would've been sorted by now Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2021 09:21

Adverts gone on mine

Touches wood to make sure stay gone

FlissMumsnet · 04/10/2021 19:14

That's good to know Blondeshavemorefun - do let us know if this happens again.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 07/10/2021 16:33

To be fair I get why devices & browsers can be helpful. But I’d like to know if this Sky ad is actually supposed to be autoplaying and staying in front as I scroll down on roughly every third thread / Active threads page?
It alternates with the other Sky one for the & they’ve been doing this for weeks. I’m on an iPhone 7 using the latest Safari and would be happy to provide a list of links.

I’m asking if it’s supposed to be doing it because you said that editorial content about baby weaning was supposed to auto play.
