Can't access site or app using WiFi

MrsMidgeMaisel · 19/06/2021 10:42

Hi

All of a sudden this morning I've been unable to access both the app and the site.

I thought the site was down but after several hours and nothing showing on social media I asked a friend to check and they confirmed they can access the site.

I've had to switch my WiFi off and use data in order to post this. I've tried repeatedly switching it off and on and every time I try to access the site using WiFi I can't get on.

For info my provider is Hyperoptic, please can you look into this?

I'm in the US and I couldn't get in either on the app or my computer. I have left my house and am using LTE and I'm back in. 🤷🏻‍♀️

WhatMattersMost · 19/06/2021 15:45

Me too. Virgin. (The service provider, obv!)

Lougle · 19/06/2021 15:46

I had a similar problem with Tesco once - couldn't check out my basket. When I spoke to their techs they suggested restarting the router. They said their obviously had been a problem with the site, but after the problem resolved my router was redirecting to the error page rather than finding the site afresh. Restarting the router flushed the connections and it was all fine after that.

Same issue with Virgin wifi. Fine on my phone when off wifi but nil on computer or tablet or phone on wifi

Lunde · 19/06/2021 16:45

Same issue - have actually been getting an "oops we're working on it" from MN for the past 5 hours

SophiesMummySaid · 19/06/2021 18:10

Same! iPhone and iPad on safari : “server is taking too long to respond” on wifi, ok on mobile data. Vodafone broadband.

DinaofCloud9 · 19/06/2021 18:12

Yes same for me. All other sites are fine.

throwaway201809 · 19/06/2021 18:19

My ISP is Virgin, I'm unable to access the Mumsnet mobile site on WiFi. No other site affected. Fine on mobile data

Puffincino · 19/06/2021 18:44

Me too, also on Virgin. Happens regularly but fine if I switch to 4g. No other sites that I use have this problem.

koalaroobear · 19/06/2021 18:46

Same here with Virgin. Fine on Data.

Sandinyourshoes · 19/06/2021 18:55

I tried the Lougle's suggestion of restarting the router and can now access with wifi, many thanks Lougle.

oneofthose · 19/06/2021 18:58

Same for me, thought the site was down but saw no mention of anyone else having the same issue. Changed to 4G and it's working, but can't access on wifi all day now.

Sandinyourshoes · 19/06/2021 19:20

Back on 4g as after about 10 minutes it's stopped working on wifi again! (TalkTalk, iphone se and safari on macbook) Sad

magicstar1 · 19/06/2021 19:24

Same here….I’m in Ireland and using Sky wifi, but it will only work on my mobile data.

I’d say the reason you don’t have hordes of reports is that it just looks like the site is down, unless to happen to go out and login using the phone data.

WarOnWoman · 19/06/2021 19:27

@mnhq still having problems getting on site. Virgin too. Both on laptop (either laggy or not able to get on). Not working on mobile at all.

NiceGerbil · 19/06/2021 19:31

Oddly mine is fine but on mobile data I keep getting told the site is unsafe and it won't connect.

Which is a bit unnerving tbh. Re site insecure message.

OytheBumbler · 19/06/2021 20:51

It's been down all day for me. I couldn't work out why there was nothing about it on Twitter.

Just come back now on WiFi.

magicstar1 · 19/06/2021 21:20

Still down for me. Any updates @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet?

RivkaMumsnet · 19/06/2021 21:35

Hi there,

Just wanted to update you on what is going on. Our tech team has made some tweaks to a few things that were likely to be causing the issue. It seems to be fixed for most people now but we are aware some people still can't access the site.

We are working hard on this and will resolve it as quickly as we can for the users still affected.

wakinguptosunshine · 19/06/2021 21:36

I have the same issue. I can only access mumsnet (both website and app) on 4g not on Wi-fi (tried on both iPad and mobile). All other sites working fine on Wi-fi.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 19/06/2021 22:04

Also having this issue

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/06/2021 22:32

Also having this issue - the “oops” message is quite annoying! P

NiceGerbil · 19/06/2021 22:33

I just a second so ago got a site is down message on WiFi. Tried again I was ok.

StevenTechMumsnet · 19/06/2021 22:33

Hi all, sorry about this. We had a networking issue. Can you try now? Thanks

JaneJeffer · 19/06/2021 22:48

@OytheBumbler

It's been down all day for me. I couldn't work out why there was nothing about it on Twitter.

Just come back now on WiFi.

Yes @StevenTechMumsnet a Twitter post would have helped. I deleted and reinstalled the app!
