Hi all

We know it's really frustrating and can assure you we're doing everything we can to get to the bottom of this. Please do continue to bear with us.

Bluntness100 · 11/01/2021 21:10

Mine did calm down today but it’s got bad again, just for info.

Reinventinganna · 11/01/2021 21:13

Ah! It’s doing my head in! It’s been going on for days!

Mbear · 11/01/2021 22:45

AcornAutumn · 11/01/2021 23:37

I get this on every thread I open and every time I refresh, it’s so frustrating.

I’m on an iPhone in safari.

KatieCMumsnet · 12/01/2021 09:39

Hi all,

Apologies it's taking a while for us to find this issue on our end as it's an intermittent issue and we've struggled to recreate it.

We've managed to recreate it in a private/incognito browser when a few different tabs are open it treats each one as a brand new session.

Can I ask you to confirm if you are using private/incognito browsers or regular browsers? This will help us troubleshoot further.

This feature is a Google product so we have registered the issue with their support team and are liaising with them about the issue in case it's a problem on their end.

Thank you for your patience, we hope to have a solution soon.

littlbrowndog · 12/01/2021 09:41

Regular browser. But it hasn’t happened this morning

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 12/01/2021 09:46

I dont know what a private browser is (i can guess...im not completely stupid, just partly)

So i must be on a regular one

OhCaptain · 12/01/2021 09:48

Regular browser.

Bluntness100 · 12/01/2021 09:49

Regular here.

PlatinumBrunette · 12/01/2021 09:54

Regular safari. Still happening 🙄

Halsall · 12/01/2021 10:11

I do use a VPN but I’m on Safari and I’m having exactly the same issues as everyone else. I’ll try it without the VPN and see if it continues.

KatieCMumsnet · 12/01/2021 10:45

Hi all,

We didn't expect to see it on regular browsers because we've been unable to make it happen on our side.

If anyone is able/willing to record a video of you using the site so we can see the issue happening that would be super helpful - then send it to [email protected]

Alternatively, if anyone is willing to join a call with me and share your screen as you use the site then that would be even more helpful - if you are please contact me at [email protected] or indicate on this thread and I'll get in touch with you directly.

Thanks for all your patience and help trying to figure this one out.

Katie

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 12/01/2021 11:02

Regular safari, iPhone, not a private browser or VON

FancyPuffin · 12/01/2021 11:07

Regular Safari browser for me too. It’s still happening constantly including if I refresh a page

Exactly the same here.
NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2021 13:24

The IT team need to browse on their iPhones. They'll soon see it happening!

Regular here too.

Coffee4Queen · 12/01/2021 13:34

Another regular browser

SunshineCake · 12/01/2021 15:36

Started up again Angry.

Exactly. It's so bizarre that they haven't done this given SO many of us are experiencing it.
KatieCMumsnet · 12/01/2021 16:08

Hi, @NoWordForFluffy & @OhCaptain

We have been testing on iPhones and iPads using Safari and Chrome. I've personally been testing with my iPhone on Safari and Chrome but haven't been able to see it appear on each page/ page refresh. We also use simulators to show how different devices, operating systems and browsers should behave.

We've managed to recreate the issue when logging in now but we are still not seeing it appear on every page/page refresh as some of you have reported. This is a good start though as we can now investigate the issue further.

It's difficult to debug something if you can't see it happening, which makes issues like this very hard to pin down.

As I said before if anyone is able or willing to share a video of the problem happening or jump on a call with us and share your screen, then it'll help us get to the bottom of it faster!

Thanks again for your help on this!

I thought maybe because I was outside the UK it could have something to do with it? But obviously not!

I can't record it now but I can try later. Today alone I had it pop up continually when I scrolled through a thread. But that was the only time I had that to be fair.

Halsall · 12/01/2021 17:37

It doesn't happen every single time so it's hard to be able to know when to record, that's the problem. But it does happen often enough to be a complete pain. For instance, it happened again on my iPhone this afternoon, but when I opened another tab to try and film, it didn't do it.

Frustrating and inconsistent!

JustineMumsnet · 12/01/2021 19:02

Thanks for bearing with us - we know it’s hugely off-putting to repeatedly get these notifications and it shouldn’t be happening. It’s in all our interests to have a site which clean and simple to use and so please know that we’re doing all we can to get this sorted out.
As I explained on this thread in November, with regard to the legitimate interest toggles, these are on by default and we can’t change that, as it’s set that way by Google. However we are actively looking into whether we might be able to introduce a ‘reject all’ option and will update you as soon as we can confirm that.
