400 Bad Request

FreezerBird · 21/12/2020 22:22

I'm getting this message constantly on Mumsnet over the last couple of days.

I can generally click from active onto the first page of a thread (but not always) but then clicking 'next' to get to page two is, the majority of the time, met with a blank white screen with the text.:
"400 Bad Request
Your browser made an invalid request"

This is only happening on Mumsnet.

I'm using the ecosia app on Android. Will clear cache and see if that helps.

I have had the same issue. I try again 10 mins later and it is ok. Must be a server problem.

WithASpider · 28/12/2020 13:36

I keep getting a 'poor Internet connection' message, I'm using the app and every other app is running fine.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 28/12/2020 14:22

I'm getting the same error messages as everyone else this morning, along with the previoud bad gateway still. Site is barely usable. Been like this for 2 weeks or more now.

giletrouge · 28/12/2020 15:03

ThisMustBeMyDream I got the bad gateway consistantly for weeks on Edge but switched to Firefox and no probs at all, might that help until Mumsnet sort it out?
(IF Mumsnet sort it out!)

ProfYaffle · 28/12/2020 18:53

Still getting it .....

Nicknacky · 28/12/2020 21:22

I’m getting this too and only on mumsnet. How is your tech so so bad when you have previously said how many staff you employ in it?!

It’s embarrassing.

vanillandhoney · 28/12/2020 21:56

I get this as well and it's only on Mumsnet too.

KihoBebiluPute · 29/12/2020 11:05

I have installed a different browser app on my phone and can use mumsnet again. Would still like it fixed as it's not ideal to have to use a different browser. It fails on Chrome but works on Ghostery, if that info is useful?

Nicknacky · 29/12/2020 21:06

@MNHQ Any update? It’s still happening and leaves taking ages to load also.

AaronPurr · 29/12/2020 21:11

Same here. It's definitely a MN problem.
AaronPurr · 29/12/2020 21:23

It seems to have got much more frequent in the last hour or so, the Apache tomcat error has also been popping up.

purpleme12 · 29/12/2020 21:29

This has happened for months
There's another thread about it that was started months ago
So I wouldn't hold your breathe about it being fixed
They've been aware about it for a months now so it can't be a priority

CrochetOrBust · 29/12/2020 22:57

Same here - Safari. And only on MN.

Shaniac · 29/12/2020 23:09

Im getting it too

LittleMissLockdown · 30/12/2020 08:13

Had the 502 error 8 times already this morning and I've only been online for 20 minutes. Similarly to others on this thread, Mumsnet is the only site I ever get error messages on.

soniamumsnet · 30/12/2020 16:27

Hi @LittleMissLockdown sorry to hear about that. We're taking a look into this now and will hopefully get to the bottom of it. Flowers

Nicknacky · 30/12/2020 20:58

@soniamumsnet You are only now looking at it despite the thread being created on 21st december? Really?

purpleme12 · 30/12/2020 21:02

There was actually a thread about this same thing created in September.
It's on the second page of 'site stuff'
It's been happening to me on and off since then
And others on that thread and now this one
So they've actually known about it since then which is why they can't see it as a priority

starrynight19 · 30/12/2020 22:07

Had the 502 error lots this morning

Kleptronic · 30/12/2020 22:22

It looks like an intermittent routing problem on the cloud platform (Cloudflare). MNHQ's techs would have to raise a support call with them each time it happens - but as it's intermittent, by the time someone at the platform looks, it's not happening any more - and because the site is up for the majority, it's not a Priority 1 call - so nobody trawls through the logs or fires up a network packet sniffer - and on it goes.

Either that or Cloudflare blame MNHQ's techs over app/DNS/hostname binding/webfarm configuration etc. and/or vice versa, and because it's intermittent no-one's got time to trawl through logs etc. Etc...

Anyway what I'm trying to say is intermittent faults for a few users out of tens of thousands are very troublesome to diagnose and fix.

ProfYaffle · 02/01/2021 09:01

It's back again .....

CarolineMumsnet · 02/01/2021 15:45

Urgh, we're sorry to hear this ProfYaffle

We'll see if we can see why it's started happening again. In the meantime, if anyone else is having this problem, please let us know here. Flowers

WouldstrokeTomHardy · 02/01/2021 15:50

I was getting this in chrome. I downloaded Firefox and have had no issues since. Or there's always the app
