Suggestions for further Mumsnet Premium offers

We've launched Mumsnet Premium Deals today and have a number of great offers for Premium members including 10% off Bugaboo.com, £100 off Octopus energy when you switch, 3 months free superfast broadband with Zen, £80 John Lewis voucher when you sign up to Admiral insurance and up to £100 off holidays with Holidays Please.

We'd love to hear from current Premium subscribers what further offers you'd like us to go after as well as from anyone who hasn't subscribed but might be persuaded to with the right offer. Please post your thoughts here and we'll do our damnedest to get the most popular partners on board with great offers. Big thanks.

Thank you Dawn!

I can’t help wondering if removing adverts for premium members will backfire and cause more advertisers to pull out of advertising on mumsnet. No one will want to advertise on a site where members won’t see the adverts. What am I misunderstanding here?

WisestIsShe · 22/06/2020 19:42

I agree with @MarkRuffaloCrumble when I was told Mumsnet was struggling and needed to raise some cash I subscribed solely in the basis of the content of the feminism board. I wanted to support a space where women could talk and learn. I have learned loads from there and stand fully with JKR.

Giraffeski · 22/06/2020 19:58

I would like the Premium option to hide the sponsored threads in the app as they irritate me almost as much as ads.
Offers wise i'm not sure it is a big draw really. A complete absence of ads and technical advantages is what I subscribe for.

I'm a subscriber, but don't live in the UK
A lottery for an Amazon voucher maybe ?

How are you ensuring that the deals only go to MN Premium members?

for example - if it's just a case of "MNPREMIUMCODE10" to get 10% off where, that is emailed out/put on a board - what is stopping anyone passing that code onto non-members?

Have you thought that the beneficiary of a 10% discount might just be a MNer who is currently out of a job and would find the discount useful, and just can't afford the monthly subs!

Is it really the goal to make absolutely certain someone isn't supported just to make the Premium Club feel like they're getting their money's worth?. Hopefully not!

BIWI · 25/06/2020 08:37

What a bizarre post @daisychain01!!

Why the bitterness? Should those who have paid to become a premium member not benefit in some way?

The two things are not mutually exclusive.

@daisychain01

Oh yes, of course, because 10% off a £900+ buggy is exactly the kind of deal needed for someone who can't afford £6 a month... HmmConfused
If they're on their arse, they're not going to be looking at spending £100s on a pram... they're likely to be looking on FB marketplace for one for £30...

The 10% offer is there to entice someone who can already afford to pay over the odds for an all singing all dancing fancy looking pram... They can afford full price, but go "ooooh, I'll get this £1300 system for 'just' £1170!"

TeddyGizmo · 25/06/2020 19:44

I don't live in the UK and I don't have kids so it's a meh from me.

I hardly notice the ads and much like PPs, I wouldn't want to pay for generic functions that are standard on other forums.

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 01/07/2020 23:24

Cant find the earlier MNHQ thread - so am I allowed to say here how much I do not like the quote facility, now I've had a chance to get used to it?

It makes threads so cumbersome. Most of us write in paragraphs and numerous times a day I'm having to wade through posts quoting 4,5,6 paragraphs just to draw attention to one sentence. Unbearably tedious - especially when they're quoting me ...

Cant you make it stop? The old c&p did the job perfectly well.

BIWI · 02/07/2020 08:22

@PerditaProvokesEnmity

You need to post this on site stuff, not here! Quoting isn't a premium feature, it's across the whole board. (But I'd also say, given how widely it seems to be being used, you're on a hiding to nothing with this!)

PerditaProvokesEnmity · 02/07/2020 09:05

Ha! Have I confused two recent MN threads? You're right - the quote function one came later, didn't it?

Thanks. Will look for it.
