It keeps happening. Everytime I click on a thread a different one opens. It's driving me mad. Anyone else having the same problem?

Happens to me, I thought it was my fat fingers!

TinySleepThief · 29/04/2020 14:22

Just another friendly nudge to see if there is any progress or if this issue will be ignored again.... We will be out of lockdown and into 2021 at this rate...

Vicbarbarkley · 29/04/2020 18:49

@TinySleepThief well, we've been waiting coming up to 3 weeks on just this thread alone, so dont hold your breath.
Is there actually an IT department, no matter how small?
I know I am sounding increasingly bitter, but I was so close to paying the premium fee. What a lucky escape that has been!

I have to admit I'm beginning to wonder at this point. Although as a previous poster said it would be a good job if you could get it as all they ever seem to do is 'take a look'. I'm thinking I might apply.

10th March I was told it was being looked into. Get your application in @TinySleepThief , they are obviously deperate for help.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for the information - and for your patience!

We think this has something to do with the active nav bar. On some phones, the active nav loads late. This means that scrolling and clicking a thread (whilst navbar suddenly loads), moves the page causing the wrong thread to be clicked and opened.

We are working on fixing this issue but in the meantime we would recommend giving the page a bit more time to load before clicking on a thread.

P.S That nav bar appears during/after page_load, so if you've been having internet issues in the last week (virgin media) and the connection is slow, it could explain why this is happening to more people recently.

00100001 · 30/04/2020 11:06

You can't blame the appallingly slow loading times on ISPs...

Vicbarbarkley · 30/04/2020 11:07

Sorry @LilyMumsnet as I have said several times now, I am aware of the lag and know when I have clicked too soon.
The times I am complaining about are when the lag cannot be blamed.

Even the lag is annoying. This is the only site I visit where I have to pretend i am still on dial up and patiently wait.
I am not with Virgin, I do not have a problem with any other website, just this one.

00100001 · 30/04/2020 11:07

How many people on this thread are with Virgin ?

TinySleepThief · 30/04/2020 11:18

I am but this is the only site I've been on, on the whole Internet that's having these issues. So I'm not sure that it's acceptable to blame virgin media for this issue.

CheriLittlebottom · 30/04/2020 13:03

Not on virgin. Only site this occurs on is this one.

Butterbeaninjeans · 30/04/2020 13:06

My nav bar has disappeared altogether

FlissMumsnet · 30/04/2020 20:51

Hi Butterbeaninjeans - that sounds very annoying - we're aware there are still unresolved issues here and are doing our best to work out what's happening here.

Sorry this is a pain for you.

Vicbarbarkley · 09/05/2020 07:28

We obviously are not going to get anything resolved here.
I have just been looking at Premium membership (the yellow banner is impossible to miss), and see that the only benefit of membership at the moment is:

Mumsnet Premium is a subscription service that allows access to our site but with the added bonus of fewer ads. Premium members won’t see any banner ads – the image-based ads that tend to take up bandwidth and slow down page loading times – all for under a £1 a week

So, there is absolutely no chance of any improvements to this problem for us poor plebs.

How sad.
