Qui tacet consentire videture... I want it to be understood by MNHQ and by guests to this site that my silence on the subject of the recent speculative threads does NOT condone their existence.

I am bonkers

I dont mean to make enemies, but i do disagree to some extent (and i do have a right to). But i think youve all gathered that by now.

Am leaving now, good luck with your pledge and petition

Aitch · 09/09/2007 12:36

true story. perhas 'existence' isn't right? it's all the hand-wringing and miss marpling that is nauseating. but i kinda couldn't get into that in the title. anyway, you get the gist.

a thread with information is fine - but the speculating is abhorrent. AN you could just read the newspapers if you wanted to!

Bibis · 09/09/2007 12:37

Avoided like the plague, too 'Daily Mail' for me

x-posted with haychee. although she is, as she acknowledges, completely bonkers.

always found the morbid speculation distasteful.

Excellent thread Aitch.

As to the silent majority/minority aspect - i've kept well away from the threads till now. Haychee you seem positively addicted, is it giving you such a voyeuristic rush?

Can I just say I felt the same about the 'oh me oh my, I cannot think of anything except Poor Maddie [sic] day and night' threads, of which these are but the flip side?

TBH MB, am finding MN not really my Home at the moment, IYKWIM

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 12:49

IKWYM, sadly.

NKF · 09/09/2007 12:50

It would be very strange if there was no mention of the story at all.

lulumama · 09/09/2007 12:52

signed, with grateful thanks to Aitch, Hunker, VVVQ, Carmenere , MB et al, who have expressed what i would have liked to say, far more eloquently

yes, you can have my signature on this too

Tamum · 09/09/2007 12:52

AIBU for wanting to keep signing this?

I am with MB and MI, it's not the same place. I know people have said that at intervals over the ages, but it really isn't, and these threads are symptomatic of that.

Mars · 09/09/2007 12:53

Mars!!!!!!!!!!!

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 12:54

Yes, I agree that that would be strange, but the 'sluthing' and constant speculation has decended to a point that I was ashamed of myself for not getting involved.

Discussing the recent changes in the case is one thing, but reading people speculating on how someone could have disposed of a body, was beyond normal interest and had reached a point of putrid prurience.

And I wanted it clear that my previous silence on the topic, did not give my consent.

EscapeFrom · 09/09/2007 12:55

signed as above

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 12:55

and at the risk of being accused of being in a clique, can I say how fantastic it is to have so many posters that I have admired for so long on this thread.

It is making me feel better about MN, much better.

suzywong · 09/09/2007 12:56

I don't get it [dim emoticon], what's it all about, Alfie?
