Aitch.

My point is simply this, yo you saw threads that you felt were offensive on MN, what would youdo?

and if the posters turned round to you and said, if you don't like it, don#t read the thread, what would you do?

So if you read someone cracking a racist joke, and were told just to ingnore it, what would you do?

This is the situation I find myself in. I find those threads offensive. I've been told just to avoid them. This is what I've decided to do. OK?

and if you'r comment is about me, or Aitch, you've got the worng women, sorry.

O

TheArmadillo.

IF they defend their right to say such things, then I defend mine to say I want nothing to do with it.

FlightAttendant · 09/09/2007 15:37

Ok MB, didn't mean to upset you. I think what you have done is admirable, sticking your neck out for what you think it important and right. I'm only discussing the possibilities and saying it is of course a big issue on here but the nazi thing wasn't very apt.
Racism possibly moreso.
I respect you and many of the people on here, just for the record.

I was just making a minor point.

FlightAttendant · 09/09/2007 15:39

No no no NO I get what you mean now, no, I wasn';t saying that at ALLLLLL

No, I meant someone you are on the opposite side to in this whole thing, might be enjoying the fact everyone is so upset by her persistence. I don't want to say her name but it must be obvious.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

FlightAttendant · 09/09/2007 15:39

I was talking about HE

FlightAttendant · 09/09/2007 15:41

Please come back MB and tell me you misunderstood, I am very anxious, I can see why you thought I might mean you in my last post, it wasn't clear at all,

Ohhh dear

i have to withdraw my post im afraid, i just cant keep my mouth shut, i have an empathy with the parents and feel they are undergoing a terrible miscarriage of justice and have been since the start. I cannot keep my mouth shut im afraid.

contrary to popular belief, i do too admire MB for the way she has stuck her neck out and i have wished her the best of luck with this campaign (wrong word but cant think of a better one). FA, i have agreed with alot you have said along the way.

However, i wi not be signing up to this thread as i beleive the thread in question was only discussing some of the more darker sides of life, some posts were ghastly and horrific, but well, these things do happen in RL. And the poster who described the suitcase thing deals with this dark side of RL in her work.

Please dont consider me as "enjoying" any of the MMC and or the discussions that have flowed through here. I was upset by the bumping and the childish manner in which the thread was brought to an end that was all.

And, for the record, i have made no defamatory posts regarding the McCanns, i feel i have been diplomatic and realistic throughout.

I'm a bit confused by this tbh. I have only read two or 3 McCann threads (including yesterday's one) but I don't see how by not posting on them the speculators will go away. PSCmum, LittleBella & others were doing the right thing imo.

Or have I misunderstood?

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 16:50

It isn't. But them nothing seems to make these people stop, This is a way of saying' XYZ may wish to 'speculate' on this sad and sorry topic, but we wish to distance ourselves from the constant muck raking

Anchovy · 09/09/2007 16:51

I have not posted on a single McCann thread - not one; not once. To the extent it is necessary to make it clear it is a conscious decision to do so, I'm really happy to make that clear.

I find the "grief tourism" aspects of Mumsnet - the need to vicariously position yourself into other people's extreme emotions - frankly quite scary. But that might just be me.
