Hi folks,

Yule never guess what... it's 48 days until Christmas!

We know what you're thinking... it's a bit early for turkey and Santa talk. Tbf, you're right, but we need your help!

At MNHQ, we are dying to know what Christmas films roast your chestnuts.

All you need to do is post your favourite family Christmas film on this thread. We'll track the answers and reveal the results with a Mnetters top ten video!

But wait—there’s myrrh. Did we mention that every user who contributes will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win some Mumsnet goodies? No? Well, everyone that contributes will be entered - and we'll be picking one lucky winner. So what are you waiting for?

Definitely Elf for me!

thefamousfiveplusone · 08/11/2019 13:04

Santa Claus the Movie was a firm childhood favourite.

Elf has now become a family favourite of ours. Although Daddy's Home 2 is a close second!!! Perhaps not your traditional classic but hilariously funny.

Oh and Home Alone will always have a place in my heart.

Hydrogenbeatsoxygen · 08/11/2019 13:21

Miracle on 34th Street, with Richard Attenborough.

Chickenlitter · 08/11/2019 13:21

Muppets Christmas Carol

Pilot12 · 08/11/2019 13:31

Home Alone 1 and 2

f00k · 08/11/2019 13:39

It's has to be Home Alone. Absolute classic. However we all loved The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix last year. It may well become a family classic for us.

f00k · 08/11/2019 13:42

The Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol - utterly classic.

Yes! My absolute favourite adaptation but no-one I know seems to have ever heard of it Confused I get, "Oh the one with Jim Carrey?" Hell no!

zonkin · 08/11/2019 14:47

Another vote for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Paddy1234 · 08/11/2019 15:39

Elf all the way!

SillyMoomin · 08/11/2019 16:49

Home Alone, lost in New York

The tree, the music, the lights, the nostalgia.... Happy christmas ya filthy animals

jessilovesmarvel · 08/11/2019 16:52

has to be home alone

Samcro · 08/11/2019 17:07

Home alone, the first one, dcs are adults but still watch it every year.

JE17 · 08/11/2019 17:13

It's A Wonderful Life gets my vote. I watched it at home when my contractions started with my Christmas baby. Come to think of it, it was the last time I got to watch the tele in peace in the last 10 years 🙂.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 08/11/2019 17:25

Wonderful life obviously.
Scrooged.
Babettes Feast (not strictly Christmas, but it has all the elements)
Nightmare before Christmas
I hate, loathe and despise the weird animation of Polar Express and Jim Carrey version of Christmas Carol

Natsku · 08/11/2019 19:52

It's not Christmas without The Snowman, although I suppose it's not really a film.

HumberHellraiser · 08/11/2019 20:04

A Christmas Carol
The black and white version with Alistair Sim as Scrooge. Just the right mix of scary and festive! Annual Xmas eve tradition for us.

Or I still love The Box of Delights, the series from the ‘80’s on You Tube with the Old Punch and Judy man. Again, just a little bit scary but magical.

Sleepycat91 · 08/11/2019 20:12

I do like polar express!

Adollop · 08/11/2019 20:17

Elf is our favourite Christmas film.

Hepzibar · 08/11/2019 20:19

Oh come on now, it has to be White Christmas. Closely followed by Its a Wonderful Life

PickledChicory · 08/11/2019 22:03

Home Alone , cant wait till the dc are old enough to watch it. Also the Snowman and the Snowdog

Fleetheart · 08/11/2019 22:26

A Christmas Carol. The Alastair Sims version. Just love it.

Teaformeplease · 08/11/2019 22:51
