Annoying pop ups

I keep getting an annoying pop up which can't be closed and takes me away from the page I'm on when I 'close' it. Some dodgy, 'You have won' pop up.

I'm on the mobile site on my iPhone using Safari, iOS 12.1.2.

Can this please be sorted?

It’s been annoying the hell out of me all day.

The pop up only seems to appear in conjunction with this French advert.

I’ve just realised that I, and many others, have posted on here with our IP addresses on full view.
I wonder if MNHQ could either delete the images or the thread once they have the info they need.

Me too.

Grrrrrrr

MotherofTerriers · 23/03/2019 00:07

It’s happening to me too, all evening. Makes my iPad unusable on this site

myhamsteratefreddiestarr · 23/03/2019 00:15

Just had it on my iPad so it’s clearly not fixed yet. Had it last night too.

This pop up offered a free iPad then opened some Vodafone page

When will this be fixed?

Bouldghirl · 23/03/2019 00:18

Oddly this is the only thread I’ve looked at tonight that the BT spam pop up hasn’t appeared.

Sparklesocks · 23/03/2019 01:02

Still going, the site is almost unusable at the mo!

Still awful for me. Using iPhone 8 on ee pop up is ‘virgin’ - can’t close it. Pops up when I try to reply to anything.
Then I used an old ‘favourites’ mn link (pre problem) and this seems ok.

festivetootsie · 23/03/2019 05:35

Still popping the same thing happening to me - twice whilst reading this thread to see if there was something I should do to stop it!!

HeronLanyon · 23/03/2019 05:39

Forget my thinking an older saved link had somehow escaped the virus (or whatever it is) they’ve appeared there too.
Hmmm gonna give the site a miss for a bit. Really unusable at mo.

Been happening all morning to me - get redirected to a site giving me the chance to ‘spin to win’ an Aldi voucher

mazylou · 23/03/2019 06:04

Still happening.

HalfBloodPrincess · 23/03/2019 06:05

Seems to be coming from somewhere called ‘Walmart credit card checker’

Hoosey · 23/03/2019 06:10

Still happening here too. Can’t use the site

floribunda18 · 23/03/2019 06:37

I've not had them at all. Samsung phone, using Chrome.

SaltedCaramelEverything · 23/03/2019 06:42

Still happening!!! Argh this is so annoying. I’m using safari on my iPhone and have BT WiFi.
Please fix MN!

PotteringAlong · 23/03/2019 06:46

Still doing it this morning here too. I agree, the site is basically not usable at the minute.

LizzieSiddal · 23/03/2019 07:15

I’m getting the BT one too.
On iPhone using safari.

QOD · 23/03/2019 07:17

Constantly happening to me this morning

GlacindaTheTroll · 23/03/2019 07:18

MNHQ - good industry practice, when there is an issue affecting many users, is to post regular updates, even when there is nothing to say so that people do not feel forgotten, or that all their issue reports are falling into a black hole.

Even if all it says is 'Tech are still working on it, next update in 1 hour' it's better than silence.

I really cannot understand why MNHQ do not adopt this entirely uncontroversial and longstanding best practice when there are issues. And I'm sure it has been mentioned (but left unanswered) during earlier events.
