Keep getting directed to dodgy sites

Hi, three times today I’ve clicked on a thread and it’s opened another window, to a dodgy site. The last one was a “100th person to click wins an iPad” type of thing. I’m on an iPad with iOS 11.2. Any ideas?

BT all the time for me. And now it’s Saturday it’ll probably not be sorted until next week

Have to say I’ve not had any more since I’ve installed an adblocker.

Not ideal as I basically shouldn’t have to use an adblocker on iOS.

Whoever is behind this wretched bug has tenacious software that’s for sure.

They have already said it’s a wider problem than just their website. I’ve had it on other websites so it clearly is a bigger problem and requires a coherent solution.

Not sure they need telling to “sort it out”

This just started happening to me this morning.

In the meantime, just a reminder to be careful when posting screenshots that you aren't giving away any information about yourself in the image such as IP address or other account details. We've been through the thread and zapped any that we could see just to be on the safe side.

I’ve downloaded an ad blocker in the hope it’ll make a difference.

This is really annoying. Been happening so much on my iPad that MN is totally unusable - had to come on a different device to post.

A quick search on here shows up that this seems to be a regular thing....@MNHQ why??? I understand you have to have ads but how much do you actually check them as it's obviously them causing the issue?

Thanks for the advice up thread on ad blockers. Hoping this fixes the problems as I haven’t been able to MN for 24 hours and I missed my favourite masterchef chat thread last night. Sorry MN but this has just got beyond a joke

Yes, experiencing this too since last night, deleted all data, cookies etc, makes no difference. Can’t even close the bloody things when they appear. On iPhone, happens in both safari and Chrome. Makes MN unusable.

Update...I’ve just downloaded Adguard, (free app) turned it on, and (touch wood) haven’t had any more pop ups and managing to post this on my iPad 😀

Mine is no longer unique to Mumsnet, happened on a local sports club site.

Yes me too. It’s when I click on active to go back to the active list, or just as I’m about to comment on a thread and have clicked in that box. Here’s the screen I get first,

And then this one. And I can’t get back to where I was, have to shut the page and start again. Putting me off using it at the moment.

@MNHQ. Re the screenshots. I noticed before you deleted them that they all had the same IP address and the same “user reference” as shown in the image I posted. I double-checked and it’s not my IP address, and I doubt everyone else was posting from that IP address either.

I’ve just had this on a completely unrelated site, for what it’s worth...
