Anyone else get this? If I'm browsing the site on my phone if I've come back to my browser from using another app the thread will be all fuzzy and have random black blocks all through it before I refresh.

Simple fix but still annoying. :s

Again

The Marks and Spencers Ad has been flickering at the top of the page and then making it blank out the whole page. The page does back eventually if you ignore it and ride out the flicker, but even writing this message was hard because of the M&S ad playing above, because it interrupts the keyboard.

TansyViolet · 20/11/2018 16:24

It's O2 that causes the problem for me. I've been trying to block it but it seems to come back

DrinkReprehensibly · 20/11/2018 23:04

Been fine for weeks and then just came back today! Arghh!

Chesntoots · 21/11/2018 10:03

It started again last night for me.

Seriously annoying.

HotdogsareDogs · 21/11/2018 23:40

I seem to be getting white squares now too 😡.

And the top bar keeps going loopy flashing away at ninety to the dozen.

Just Eat is one of the pop ups causing white and black boxes on my screen.

FishesThatFly · 22/11/2018 20:27

I DON'T BLINKING BELIEVE IT!!!

After being ok for ages, I'm being affected by white areas...

Are we going to do the whole rainbow eventually Hmm

HelloDoris · 22/11/2018 21:13

M and S ads cause the black boxes of doom for me. Driving me bonkers, because a page will load and be fine then the advert seems to suddenly change and the whole page goes tits up.

MrsRyanGosling15 · 23/11/2018 06:20

Glad it's not just me. Black areas, areas totally white and whatever ad is at the top flashing.

Originallymeonly · 23/11/2018 06:42

It's back again! Fingers crossed I'll get this posted before whichever ad it is kicks in.

UnalliterativeGeorge · 23/11/2018 07:14

I think it's worse than before now as not even refreshing fixes it first time 🙄

DeadBod · 24/11/2018 14:03

It's back again.

SophieLMumsnet · 24/11/2018 14:57

So sorry about this, everyone - we won't be able to get this sorted today, we're afraid, but we will be looking into it as soon as we can next week.

Thank you for your patience!

CurbsideProphet · 24/11/2018 15:02

This thread has been going 6 weeks now. At least I'm wasting less time on Mumsnet!

Lougle · 26/11/2018 06:50

Here's an example. This time it's the bowling ad.

Lougle · 26/11/2018 06:57

Sorry for multiple posts! It seems as if it's a glitch in the loading of the animated ads. Like they hang and wipe out the thread, then buffer and it all appears again. It's just like a buffering issue when you are streaming a film on, say, Netflix. Everything hangs, you can't see anything, you can't do anything, the screen jumps.... it's happening now as the Co-op and above my keyboard is rolling. Every time the ad switches scene, my keyboard jumps and I can't type, then it resets, and I can type again. I know it's going to do it now, so I can just pause and wait. But it shouldn't happen!

MarysInTheDyson · 26/11/2018 08:16

Is there a way of blocking ads on mumsnet?

AnyaMumsnet · 26/11/2018 11:21

Hi there everyone,

We're sorry this is still going on.

Just to reiterate what MichaelMumsnet has said further up, it'd be really helpful if some of you could try the following.

"Thanks for the reports. We're still trying to track down what could be causing the black box infestation.

We've got something to try - which should help to narrow things down:

If you put your phone into safe mode, and the boxes stop appearing - then that will get us a lot nearer to finding out what's causing the problem. Please let us know if the black boxes are still there when you look at the site when the phone is in safe mode.

Here are some instructions for putting a Samsung Galaxy S5 into safe mode

And here are some general Android phone instructions

Hopefully one of you with the issue will try this and let us know - it really will be a big help in diagnosing the problem.

Thanks in advance.
MNHQ"

Lougle · 26/11/2018 21:17

I've given it 15 minutes in safe mode and nothing, Anya, but that doesn't necessarily mean much, because I can go days with no problems, then have a few problems, then days without, etc.

DeadBod · 29/11/2018 06:05

Again Hmm

Lougle · 29/11/2018 08:51

I've had it twice
