Ads with SOUND??? MN are you having a flipping laugh???!!!!

Seriously, WHY would you put ads onto thread pages that have SOUND???

I use headphones on my computer, and popped over onto MN without taking my headphones off and just got BLASTED with the ad for the sponsored Star Wars ad. Jumped bloody sky high. WHY would you do this????????

Thanks for all your posts - they are really helpful and very much appreciated. These URLs have been blocked so we're rather baffled as to how they are still getting through. We're so sorry for the tremendous faff here and hope you can bear with us. Can you let us know if you are accessing the site through the Mumsnet App when you are seeing the Video ads with sound? This will throw some light on the situation and may really help. Thanks for including @lizzie in any replies, it means we can be alerted straight away!

Thanks for getting back to us - we're so sorry to hear you are still having problems. We've blocked this URL so we're really quite stumped as to why you are still seeing these! We appreciate how frustrating this must be for you - we do have a couple of further suggestions for you if you can bear to try them.

If the ad you're seeing has an AdChoices blue cross in the top corner, please click on this and then click on the report ad tab. If not, let's see if clearing your cache helps?

To clear your cache for safari browsers go into your settings, click on safari and clear history and website data or you can find instructions on how to do it here.

Please do let us know how you get on?

I'm not sure I want to clear my cache as I have saved passwords etc.

Rather than deleting these ads one by one, they can be stopped by blocking their coding.

We are truly stumped with this one, we replicate the ads you see but for us, the sound is always muted, we have spoken to all our partners and again they have confirmed all sound is off by default.
we will continue to test in the hope we are able to reproduce the issue so we can speak to the offending party - we will keep you updated on how we get on but to confirm we DO NOT allow ads to have sound on, you would need to explicitly turn the sound on yourself if you wish.
