Ads with SOUND??? MN are you having a flipping laugh???!!!!

Seriously, WHY would you put ads onto thread pages that have SOUND???

I use headphones on my computer, and popped over onto MN without taking my headphones off and just got BLASTED with the ad for the sponsored Star Wars ad. Jumped bloody sky high. WHY would you do this????????

@AngieMumsnet Still going, at random times, on the mobile website on Firefox on Android. Had several instances the last day or so where clicking on a thread or even my 'threads I'm watching' page starts up sound for "Try the new Ford Echo Sport" with music. The actual ads on the page don't bear any resemblance to this.

We have identified the advert that was playing with sound on and it has been turned off.

We don't take advertising with Auto-play, however sometimes they can get through, so if you do see one, just let us know the brand and page (screen-shot if possible) and we get it fixed.

Thanks bananagrabbr. We're currently looking into this but at the moment, can't find the cause. We've reached out to all of our vendors and they have assured us that all sound is automatically turned off. Fingers crossed it doesn't pop up again but if it does, can you let us know when, where and who? Screenshots are also very helpful (if you can manage to grab one).

Happened again yesterday morning (8.15am) when I opened a thread - took a screenshot. Sound was an ad for Ford Ecosport once again - it starts with the guitar riff from Elvis Costello 'Pump it up'

As I said before, obviously this isn't the ad displayed on the page. It only happens on mumsnet website so not due to another tab etc.

Aha! Sorry for confusion @LizzieMumsnet but I've just realised the ads are autoplaying as videos at the bottom of the page. I have only heard them as soon as I open up a page and don't even get as far as scrolling down to the bottom.

Have screenshotted this properly I think now.

This is happening again! 3 ads in the last day or so. Usually startles a sleepy baby so haven't been able to screenshot yet. Ads for veet and ibuprofen, so far..

The only bit I could click on was 'buy now' which took me to a redirect link which then went to www.amazon.co.uk/Wick-VIPoo-Lemon-Idol-Spray/dp/B01N42EYS7/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?keywords=airwick%20vipoo&ie=UTF8&qid=1519812232&sr=8-1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Then on this thread another noisy ad appeared. I held-click and get the option to share the link, which was

I think this is a similar url to where the first ad took me to first before it redirected to Amazon.

Ridiculous. I have never known a website have so many problems with the advertising on it.
If you want to keep people from using an adblocker, MNHQ, you need to look at tech across the whole platform and not just do little fixes each time there is an issue.
