dame the flat breads was YOU!!

I bought the greek yog yesterday and still have the window open, we are having them for dinner tonight.

Pity I don't have any visiting children to try them on.
Oh wait, couldn't serve them anyway, they aren't pizza/pasta

terrylene · 08/09/2017 15:48

terrylene - I love bagpuss too.

wigglybeezer · 08/09/2017 15:54

Aw user got there first, i was going to show off my knowledge of Bagpuss too!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/09/2017 16:04

I always do it on the job and I used to soak beans over night but unless you get really good quality beens the canned ones work better as they don't fall apart. And it's much quicker too!

Dear old Bagpuss My favourite story. Probably why my DC like butterbeans - we had them at school as a vegetable Hmm and they were very unpopular (pre-Bagpus era).

motherinferior · 08/09/2017 16:18

It sounded both delicious and quite, you know, normal to me. Not OMG HOW REPULSIVE AND OBSCURE A FOODSTUFF I AM VOMITING AS I TYPE.

Saucery · 08/09/2017 16:23

I make a soup version of that. Even grate cheese on top sometimes but not tried feta.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/09/2017 16:25

It's great soupySmile

thanks for flat bread recipe - so sorry to have missed a bean fight though

magimedi · 08/09/2017 16:30

If you like butter beans this is really delicious:

Butter beans & Bacon (for 2 people).

I tin butter beans, drained & rinsed.

Half a pint of cheese sauce made with a good strong cheddar + a tsp of Dijon mustard.

6 (or so) thin cut rashers of streaky bacon.

Heat the butter beans in the cheese sauce until piping hot. Put them in a flat ovenproof dish (or a couple of of individual chafing dishes) , put the bacon on top & put under the grill until the bacon is done - less than 5 mins.

Serve with crusty bread and/or salad.

V calorific, v easy & v comforting. A British tartiflette??

A glass of very cold white wine raises this to ambrosial!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/09/2017 16:32

Oh God, that sounds lovely!!!

DubiousCredentials · 08/09/2017 16:32

So did the OP say it was broad beans but later reveal it was a typo and they were butter beans? Or what? OMG I AM ALMOST VOMITING

magimedi · 08/09/2017 16:35

Dame it is truly delicious. Have to ration how often I have it!!

steppemum · 08/09/2017 16:46

yes dubious.
and she dared to put feta cheese on top, which was tantamount to vomit, and then serve it to children. Children! Who only eat pasta a pizza - how dare she!!

UrsulaPandress · 08/09/2017 16:50

Butter beans in cheese sauce!

I am almost fainting at the thought.

Could I squeeze some cauliflower in somewhere?

inchyrablue · 08/09/2017 16:53

This thread is even better than the original. It all sounds delicious! Not broad beans mind. Definitely not broad beans.

DuckOffAutocorrectYouShiv · 08/09/2017 16:54

It's easy to tell the difference - broad beans sleep in their blankety bed; butter beans sleep under crumbled feta cheese. No need for any confusion, people.
