Harsh, but ban the non thread readers please!

Lighthearted. Kind of.

I propose that mnhq start banning the non thread readers. The cancel the chequers if you will.

I don't mean people who read threads but don't take in a bit of info sometimes. We all do that. I mean the 'i haven't read the full thread but...' people who then go on to flog a completely dead horse or perpetuate the resurrection of a zombie thread where 20 posters have already said ZOMBIE THREAD.

Read the op, read the end of the thread. If you are moved enough to post then read through the rest. It's not that hard is it?

I know the opening song off by heart still!

Pagwatch · 06/12/2016 08:01

I swear there are posters who spend the whole day posting
'I haven't read the whole thread but feel you need to hear my uninformed opinion which matches exactly comments made repeatedly already'
And
'I think the op is getting and unduly hard time'
And sometimes
'I haven't read the whole thread but I think the op is getting an unduly hard time.'

I might just start posting those randomly. It would save time so maybe they are onto something.

WouldHave · 06/12/2016 08:03

I remember one where someone beat the OP up about suggesting she should take a child to A&E and told her not to waste hospital time. The trouble was that, had she read the thread, she would know that the child had gone to A&E hours beforehand and been admitted for something really serious. Major egg on face time.

Fiderer · 06/12/2016 08:05

Pag I posted yesterday "Kill her". Pointless perhaps but CheerfulYank took it well and it didn't spark a host of Shock posts.

GinAndOnIt · 06/12/2016 08:07

Impressive, OP. I don't know if I ever really listened to the lyrics properly because I feel rather uplifted after watching it. I always thought it said 'put them in the reject bin' rather than 'look who's in the reject bin'..! It has a kinder message than I thought Grin

InstantMom · 06/12/2016 08:07

There's an option to highlight the ops posts ?? Please tell me how I do this 🙏🙏🙏

00100001 · 06/12/2016 08:09

Rosie and Jim were creepy.

Bring back The Shiny Show, I liked the sarcastic cat.

00100001 · 06/12/2016 08:12

I haven't read the whole thread but I think the op is getting an unduly hard time.

Stormwhale · 06/12/2016 08:16

God it drives me potty. No, uninformed poster, your opinion is not so important to us all that you can justify not reading the thread. I can pretty much guarantee that it is not so enlightened and groundbreaking that we want to hear it. And if you are a user1235849937 I am not going to read your post, at all. Angry

NorksAreMessy · 06/12/2016 08:17

We still call mashed potato 'BODGER and Badger' and once DD begged me to throw some at her and I did.
I don't know who was more surprised!

Anyhooooo, I haven't read any of the rest of the thread. Is it interesting? Grin

WellErrr · 06/12/2016 08:20

I still think OP should cancel the cheque.

longdiling · 06/12/2016 08:23

I am getting a hard time as it goes, people are derailing my thread with talk of badgers and historical children's TV.

Pag, that is exactly what riles me, the sheer arrogance of it. People must hear my voice and my opinion, even if it is entirely uninformed!!

Gin, I can't remember where I put my debit card and may need to cancel it but, yes, I can sing the opening song to Raggy Dolls.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 06/12/2016 08:23

Someone actually posted 'I haven't read the whole thread. Who has time for that?' last week.

LostMyBigGirlPants · 06/12/2016 08:25

I had a dream last night that I bought a £6 pair of pants from TopShop and they charged £600 to my debit card.

HTH, OP Flowers

FizzBombBathTime · 06/12/2016 08:27

Or when people jump on the bandwagon, usually in AIBU and the posts against the op get increasingly hysterical.

It makes me want to say 'yeah I think the op gets she's selfish/ridiculous/awful/a complete cunt now, why are you just repeating what's been said a hundred times?!'

JigglyTuff · 06/12/2016 08:29

It's the sheer arrogance of someone not bothering to read a thread and venturing an opinion anyway that gets to me.

Imagine if you went through daily life like that: "Hello, I know we've not met but just wanted to let you know that colour does nothing for you"

"Why are you at the GP? You look absolutely fine to me!"

"Your child is a bit old to be having a tantrum aren't they?"

I've just realised these are the same people. Burn them with fire, only way

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 06/12/2016 08:29

Well the thread has moved on but I've always wanted to know if HoneyDragon and the honey badger are cousins.

NoelHeadbands · 06/12/2016 08:34

There's something almost delightfully arrogant about posters who swan onto a 500 post thread 'well I've skimmed the OP, it's time for these other people to cut their chit chat between themselves, I shall now bestow my obviously correct advice to cancel the cheque. Thread solved'

Even better when they're challenged and come back with 'I cba to read it all- it's 20 pages!'

Oh okay then!

PurpleDaisies · 06/12/2016 08:36

This is a pet hate of mine too.

The worst ones are where the op graciously accepts they've been unreasonable and arseholes posters keep turning up to berate them. There was a duvet equivalent of "cancel the cheque" where what seemed like a hundred separate posters told the op to buy two single duvets.

It is supremely arrogant to presume that in a fifteen page thread no one has posted something similar to you, and nothing has changed in the op's position.

Pagwatch · 06/12/2016 08:36

Ah Fids, I miss 'kill her'

Although cheerful is the last person I'd actually want to kill. You know, properly.

PurpleDaisies · 06/12/2016 08:36

I think some people forget posting is not compulsory-if you can't be arsed to read the full thread that's fair enough. Just don't bother giving your opinion on it.

Pagwatch · 06/12/2016 08:39

Perhaps we should stop posting RTFT.
Maybe if we call that thing something better. Like being a ThreadCunt? ThreadCuntery?

So instead of posting User1234 RTFT we could post 'user1234 that's classic threadcuntery.'

WellErrr · 06/12/2016 08:39

That 'daughter stuck in Edinburgh for Christmas' one 😂😂

Pagwatch · 06/12/2016 08:39

I'm worried about my spelling of Threadcuntery. It does not look right.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 06/12/2016 08:41

I like that warning Empress, I like it a lot. The rest of your post was far too sensible.

OK, how's this? MN invest in eye tracking technology. If anyone tries to post without having read all the OP's posts, they're redirected to Netmums.
