How about a campaign where the users get MNHQ staff to take diversity training?

MNHQ themselves have displayed ignorance (at best) over the last few months and prejudice / discrimination at worst when dealing with certain situations.
For example Justine, the sites owner herself over the last few days has made some very ignorant and damaging comments about diabetes.
We have seen the same with many times with Racism too as well as low level disablism.

Unless you are white, middle class and able bodied HQ isn't a nice place to be.

Post here if you would like this to take place. HQ need training and they need it fast.

Manumission - there is also argument to say that this whole 'MNHQ are a bunch of cunts/don't give a shit/aren't responding exactly how we demand when we demand' narrative a) has been done to death, b) is OTT and c) isn't going to move this forward (as much or as quickly as posters are demanding).

Tbh I think the posters that think MNHQ are fucking up would do better to deal with MNHQ direct - hell, even phone them or something - but get a proper conversation going with them, instead of these numerous threads berating them.

NoSunNoMoon · 04/11/2016 15:28

Calls of 'sn brigade' despite AGREEING with an OP were made just because I mentioned disability in my post - I mean wt actual f???

I have only ever seen that expression used by people complaining about its use. No one actually does comment on "the SN brigade", apart from those complaining about people using that expression.

GingerIvy · 04/11/2016 15:30

NoSun use of the SN brigade comment isn't as often now. It was really bad for awhile. The moment "SN" was mentioned in any way whatsoever for quite some time, there were literally tons of people piling into threads berating the poster, saying "oh god, it's the SN brigade again" and it was really nasty.

AmyGMumsnet · 04/11/2016 15:32

@DixieNormas

Really? It's just take them 13 hours to delete a post accusing a poster of sitting around on her arse all day claiming benefits, getting fat and using disability as an excuse.

Even though the poster has a child with a disability who needs 24 hour care. Yet they can delete a thread because the op didn't like the way it was going and pop in to the we love mnhq thread to send gin and flowers.

Hi Dixie

Thanks for raising this - we've had a look, and according to our system that post was reported to us once, around four hours ago.

We removed it as soon as poss with a message to say we thought it was disablist, and we've also contacted the poster to explain this decision to them and ask them to read up on the myths around disability mentioned in www.mumsnet.com/campaigns/this-is-my-child

We hope that helps - we do try to act as quickly as we can in these circs but of course we can always do better.

Jason actually tried to do this months ago, me and some other people helped him word it at the time, it was sent as an actual letter of complaint.
I believe they emailed him back and didn't answer the reply.

This hasn't come out of nowhere, we have tried to do it over email, with letters and keep things off the site.

It's no wonder we are so close to breaking point.

Well I haven't said that HQ are a bunch of cunts or that they should do exactly as I demand (far from it) so there's not much point addressing that to me.

I haven't seen anyone call HQ a bunch of cunts, to be fair.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 15:53

but get a proper conversation going with them,

I agree a conversation is what's needed.

This has become frustrated, entrenched, point-by-point squabbling.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 15:57

Maybe that should be thread by thread or deletion by deletion.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 16:00

AmyGMumsnet is it possible that the report function is glitchy again? Could that be what's causing the differing ideas about how long deletion is taking?

AmyGMumsnet · 04/11/2016 16:02

@DixieNormas

We were reporting it before 10 o'clock sat night

Hi Dixie

We've not had a report from you about this one - would you mind reporting my post please, so we can check everything's working as it should be?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 04/11/2016 16:04

Manumission - sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you had said that about HQ, my point was more that the "sod off/start your own website" narrative is a direct response to the "MNHQ are a bunch of cunts" threads.

Manumission · 04/11/2016 16:05

Yes maybe everyone calming down a bit would help.

I don't think any of my reports from the app went through for months Dixie. Mobile site and desktop site were fine. Then all of my reports started going through as spam reports.

AmyGMumsnet · 04/11/2016 16:33

Hi Dixie

Thanks very much for reporting - this one came through fine, most odd.

BishopBrennansArse · 04/11/2016 16:36

I reported just after the post appeared, about 8.30 last night

Ghostofasmile · 05/11/2016 07:00

This hasn't come out of nowhere, we have tried to do it over email, with letters and keep things off the site.

Actually thinking about it i think this raises another failing on MNHQ's part, using Jason as an example, if they actually carried out the discussion privately over email and letters (instead of shutting down discussion by not replying), then we wouldn't be forced to discuss these emotive issues publicly on site stuff.

In this case Jason wouldn't have been on the thread, because there would have been a private conversation between the necessary parties many months before and the situation of him getting himself unfairly banned wouldn't have happened. In fact there might not have even been a thread in the first place.

The fact that people have had to use Sitestuff to get any sort of discussion going with MNHQ isn't good.

OP posts:
GingerIvy · 05/11/2016 07:55

You'll note that I put up a perfectly civil post above and it was utterly ignored.

WaitrosePigeon · 05/11/2016 08:51

himself unfairly banned wouldn't have happened

He did not get himself unfairly banned. He deserved to get banned for belittling my miscarriage.

MNHQ agreed that his behaviour was unacceptable so he was quite rightly, banned.

Just wanted to get that clear for anyone else that is reading.

WaitrosePigeon · 05/11/2016 08:58

Actually just so that everyone reading is aware.

The recent heated thread in Site Stuff that I believe was deleted got very heated indeed. Throughout I was saying please be kind as we are all fighting our own battles. Once I had enough I said I was going to leave the thread.
Someone else then said something along the lines of 'people always say they are leaving'. I then said it was because that weekend I was actually having a miscarriage and I didn't want to upset myself further.

Jason then said 'I wonder how long it would take for you to tell us'.

That is why he was banned. So saying he was unfairly banned is quite hurtful. He was fairly banned. And thankfully HQ agreed.

WaitrosePigeon · 05/11/2016 09:00

He said that to imply I was using my miscarriage as a get out of jail free card - in a nutshell.

Just wanted to make this absolutely clear for everyone.
