Latest Talk app update for iOS

Morning all,

Early this morning we released an update for our iOS Talk app and thought we'd give you a heads-up about it.

There is now a search function so you can now search every thread on Mumsnet Talk from within the app.

This update also includes bug fixes for a number of issues that were reported by you - thanks for your feedback.

Let us know what you think and thanks for all of you feedback so far.

Battery draining
We've just made a change to the way the adverts work, meaning the app should stop draining the phone battery excessively.

We'll keep monitoring the situation, but let us know how it performs.

For 1.4 hrs on MN it's had 44% of my battery..

Anyone else struggling to load threads on the app? Keep getting timed out or message saying to check Internet connection but other apps run ok. Posting from mobile site but no tio showing and clunky.

Site performance overall is .......not good.

I think I'm going to delete the app and stick to the mobile website. After all the updates it's still clunky and buggy and also still rather basic. Sorry Tim

Agh this is so frustrating, so many issues.

There are a lot of issues, it's true - but I still like the app.

Now the opposite is happening. The threads I'm following don't show new posts. They remain purple instead of going white.

That's the 'highlighting' issue people were talking about. The way it's done on the App, anyway.

Installed a new update today. I'll see if it works.

I deleted app and reinstalled, highlighting working but hiding threads no longer works they just show up again.

Very confused here now the threads I'm on comes up with no list, they all seem to be in watching....?

App gone extremely strange after attempting to use search. The 'search' facility seems to have taken over 'threads I'm on'

Balls, it's doing it again - every thread on my watch list is showing white as having updated (using the app). Anyone else?

We've got an upcoming build with energy efficiency improvements and some other fixes that should help.

I keep trying to hide a thread but it keeps coming up in "threads I'm on"

Received the new build.

It seems to be working fine. Instinctively, it feels a little quicker. I 'think' it's also lighter on battery use - iPad - but I'll leave other posters to comment on how it 's behaving on their phones.

Thanks cozie - for anyone else who is testing the beta v3.5, have you noticed an improvement in battery life?

Our tests show much better performance, but I wanted to check with you lot, since you all seem to spend enough hours on here to tell

I'm on the new test app since Wednesday. Here's the issues:

Battery - still awful, like pp, losing 10% of battery every 10-15 mins. Phone gets stonkingly hot too (iPhone 6s). I can't MN while out and about anymore as I can't afford to run dry

Watched threads - hadn't worked for months, no change on new app, just get the nothing here error message or plain blue page

Highlighting new messages on tio is random. Sometimes it highlights everything, sometimes nothing, something's it's right

Duplicate posts - still happens occasionally- just got a triple on a post on the facebook shite thread
