Morning all,

Early this morning we released an update for our iOS Talk app and thought we'd give you a heads-up about it.

There is now a search function so you can now search every thread on Mumsnet Talk from within the app.

This update also includes bug fixes for a number of issues that were reported by you - thanks for your feedback.

Let us know what you think and thanks for all of you feedback so far.

OP posts:

It's been behaving itself so far.

I guess - given that Tech can't seemingly replicate the crashes - that we're down to the old 'what device etc' and ' how you're using the app' questions. Sad

TimMumsnet · 12/10/2016 16:47

Hey guys, thanks for downloading the update - I'm just waiting for new crash reports be collected (takes around 12 hours), then I can figure out what else is breaking.

Every time the app crashes, the app sends me a report to help with fixing the issue. Although sometimes it's not exactly helpful...

So for now we don't need to worry about asking for device etc cozie

Glad you like it! Sometimes we're able to add small fixes with other releases, that was one of them. Let me know if you see anything funky when rotating to the new orientation.

TimMumsnet · 12/10/2016 16:52

cozietosie regarding the search filtering - that's something we've intentionally left out for now. We need to have some data on usage before we can consider adding other features - so it's still a bit crude, but will improve.

At some stage soon, we're going to try improve the default order, so that more recent results are prioritised - currently the results are prioritised mostly by popularity (even if they're a decade old)

cozietoesie · 12/10/2016 17:01

Phew! Grin

TimMumsnet · 12/10/2016 17:39

Oh also cozietoesie - I've just fixed the issue where threads weren't being set as unread when new posts were added. Sorry about that!

The fix will be released probably within a week, with some other fixes.

cozietoesie · 12/10/2016 17:53

Well done. Smile That was real irritating, that one.

cozietoesie · 12/10/2016 17:55

And with that - and going to another board - it crashed. First one post update, though.

LIZS · 12/10/2016 17:56

Do we need to log out and back in to get the highlighting back? Agree search without filters isn't hugely useful.

I understood from Tim's post that the highlighting issue won't be resolved until the next formal fix. About a week off?

poppopp · 12/10/2016 20:10

A god, a week?!

Wallywobbles · 12/10/2016 20:10

Loads of weird stuff. All watching threads are showing as having new messages. And threads going back months too.

I watch doesn't seem to work either.

Is anyone else having an issue with opening threads only for a blank page to show up then when you refresh you get the 'nothing here, perhaps you've got no internet'

Nowt wrong with my tinterweb just the app ;)

cozietoesie · 12/10/2016 22:36

All the flipping time. (Well a goodly proportion of it anyway.) I think ('think') it's just the App's way of handling site overloading of some sort. (On the main site, I received a fleeting message recently telling me that the 'queue' was full.)

Queue???

cozietoesie · 12/10/2016 22:40

Ah. I must have kept a screenshot of it.

I've been getting occasional blank pages too.

LIZS · 13/10/2016 09:00

All threads have become highlighted, does that mean it is fixed and will change as read and updated with new posts?

cozietoesie · 13/10/2016 10:10

Have you changed devices, LIZS? My pages are just the same and all the threads being highlighted and looking 'fresh' is one of the changing device 'signatures' for me.

LIZS · 13/10/2016 10:32

No I spoke too soon - as I've opened threads again so they've stayed unhighlighted even when additional posts are made.

Only1scoop · 13/10/2016 10:35

Unhighlit here still also
Same device
Still crashing also

I think it's to be another week before the fix for the highlighting is issued formally?

cozietoesie · 13/10/2016 11:15

It looks, LIZS, as if you just had the 'update-highlighting' then. (All the threads on all the boards were highlighted for me as a result of the update. It's as if everything was started anew.)
