You never used to delete threads because the poster got arsey when things wasn't going their way!

Protect their privacy my back side. There was nothing to be protected

OP posts:

Cake
Queenbean · 06/09/2016 23:04

Ooooh I want to know more. Only thing better than a deleted thread is the post-mortem of a deleted thread

FairNotFair · 06/09/2016 23:10

The cake thread was deleted? It was a thing of MN beauty

UmbongoUnchained · 06/09/2016 23:12

What could have possibly gone wrong on a thread about a gender reveal cake Shock

BertieBotts · 06/09/2016 23:13

Yeah the cake thread was toast. I still think OP was trolling though.

I think my worst roasting that they refused to delete is gone, it was in chat. Phew!

ilovesooty · 06/09/2016 23:14

I see they're having a right carry on discussing it on the Facebook page.

BertieBotts · 06/09/2016 23:17

Wait - someone at MNHQ actually reposted that thread on FB with the subtitle "Maybe your MIL was just devastated to realise that her grandchild is being born into a family with such bad taste."

Grin

No, no, HQ would never sockpuppet and troll to draw strong opinions. Would they?! Shock

PacificDogwod · 06/09/2016 23:18

I don't get this taking stuff from MN on to FB Confused

But then again I don't get FB fullstop. Grin

PacificDogwod · 06/09/2016 23:18

What?! MNHQ put it on FB?? WTAF? Shock

UmbongoUnchained · 06/09/2016 23:19

So basically a woman had a gender reveal cake and her mother in law went mad? (I'm trying to work it out through the fb comments)

Mycatsabastard · 06/09/2016 23:19

I missed this thread. I'm a bit gutted as I love a good bun fight.

I'm consoling myself by watching girl cat 2 pounce on girl cat 1 who isn't interested in playing and is consequently getting pissed off and bopping her over the head.

Middleoftheroad · 06/09/2016 23:24

It was MN gold Cake

PepsiPenguin · 06/09/2016 23:27

She had a gender reveal cake...
MIL got the hump as she hadn't been told prior to the big reveal, which by all accounts was a picture of a cake with a slice missing and a pink middle on FB not a party...

I was disappointed it wasnt a boy and that it wasn't a cock cake.

Lots of gender/sex debate mixed in with some great photos of terrible cakes in the shape of vaginas with babies coming out of them...

Deleted by the time I got to page six which was utterly disappointing as some of the comments about possible types of cakes and the photos had me in stitches

BertieBotts · 06/09/2016 23:27

No. A woman had a gender reveal cake, took a picture and put it on FB and her MIL went mad.

But the thread was just 20 pages of people saying OP was U for having a gender reveal cake. Either for reasons of tackiness, "wasting NHS time" (even though the scan was private) or the word gender. To which OP complained that she never asked for opinions on the cake. And then flounced.

BertieBotts · 06/09/2016 23:29

It was all done in the usual witty MN style.

I did enjoy the vag cakes.

PepsiPenguin · 06/09/2016 23:29

There was also something about the fact it may or may not have been in pink inside, it could have been multicoloured or something like that (not much of a reveal if it was purple IMO)

So someone asked if she was having a my little pony...

Floggingmolly · 06/09/2016 23:29

Why else would MMHQ delete it so readily to "protect the posters privacy" and then plaster it all over Facebook, Bertie? Embarrassingly transparent...

PurpleDaisies · 06/09/2016 23:30

I missed that thread but the deletion message that they "rarely delete threads on the poster's request" needs changing to "the poster is unhappy that they got flamed and whinged about it".

BertieBotts · 06/09/2016 23:31

Or their staff don't talk to each other at all, which I've been suspecting for some time...

UmbongoUnchained · 06/09/2016 23:36

Oh... I guess it was one of those had to be there threads.

LittleBearPad · 06/09/2016 23:36

Whoever is running social media at MNHQ is having a bad month. They've shared the cake thread, the dining table zombie thread from 2011 and the 'establish a routine or you'll never sleep again' bunfight wasn't long ago.

It's wonderful that the threads gone but MNHQ have shared it even more widely across the Internet. D'oh.

LittleBearPad · 06/09/2016 23:38

The wedding cake reveal person is on Facebook though. Seems she was upduffed at her wedding and revealed the baby's sex via her wedding cake.

PepsiPenguin · 06/09/2016 23:41

Wedding cake reveal thread? Oh my days

I've learnt so much this evening Smile

SpaceDinosaur · 07/09/2016 00:20

OP: AIBU
MN: yes you fecking are
OP: no I'm not
MN: yes dear
OP:
MN: fucksake.
OP: Delete my thread, I can't believe people disagreed with me.

...I agree this place is turning into nethuns with millions of snowflakes and HOW MANY PEOPLE CALLED
USER

JenLindleyShitMom · 07/09/2016 00:30

I think HQ should run a competition for one MNer to be a HQer for the day and have the job of deciding whether threads go or not. I'd love that job. I'd delete all the ones that even had a whiff of the hairy hand even if no-one reported them (I'd go looking for them) and I'd leave all the stroppy "I got a roasting so delete this" ones to stand. The HQ posts would be so funny they'd make a thread in classics full of just my posts Grin
