How much trouble would Zombie be in if

IamtheZombie · 22/08/2016 22:06

she posted something like "Zombie would be pleased to answer your question / interact with you / get into a discussion with you AS SOON AS YOU CHANGE TO A PROPER NICKNAME" on all threads started by user1234567890 posters?

MNHQ's recent forced log in trial has unleashed another tsunami of "user"s as so many signed up to complain.

Zombie is now complaining about the renewed confusion created by "nicknames" that are virtually identical.

Humph.

I just can't take them seriously.
Please get a proper name.

SlinkyVagabond · 22/08/2016 22:24

Just fucking think of something! It's not difficult, we've all done it many times

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 22/08/2016 22:25

If HQ got cross with Zombie I would have to throw Olivia's eyebrows at them.

reelingintheyears · 22/08/2016 22:27

Mumsnet's right proper gone to the dogs these days.

Sparklingbrook · 22/08/2016 22:29

Zombie is not being unreasonable. I can't take them seriously either.

It should be compulsory to change NN straight away.

MooPointCowsOpinion · 22/08/2016 22:32

I agree, and I will join anyone in telling all usernumber folks to change their name before I will talk to them. On every thread.

IamtheZombie · 22/08/2016 22:32

Instead of 10 (allegedly) page views before having to log in / register (yes she knows the trial has been stopped), how about a maximum of 10 posts before a usernumber poster has to choose a PROPER NICKNAME.

Zombie likes to offer solutions. Grin Grin

Oo I like the 10 posts suggestion.

That would force them to do something

BeenThereDoneThatForgotten · 22/08/2016 22:36

It's not their fault though that things seems to have got so complicated. Why should newbies have to face threads effectively slagging them off whilst they work out all the shit?

MiddleClassProblem · 22/08/2016 22:38

Because they can always change their names again AND we can address them

BeenThereDoneThatForgotten · 22/08/2016 22:38

And as Zombie has had years of support from fellow MNetters I would have thought you might be a bit more tolerant.

NeedACleverNN · 22/08/2016 22:38

It isn't complicated though is it?

If they are really struggling, all they have to do is ask. And people are happy to jump in to tell them how to do it.

Usual, but as you have had the same name since year dot, I guess you haven't tried to open an account recently and seen the hurdles that apparently lead to the these user 1224 names.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 22/08/2016 22:42

I can't name change when using tablet, only on PC.
Not that I name change frequently...

NeedACleverNN · 22/08/2016 22:43

When I got put on the naughty step and had to create a new account to find out what's going on, it was easy to create a name

I do it on my phone

MiddleClassProblem · 22/08/2016 22:44

I only use my phone and can name change. Worst case switch to desktop mode?

What are the hurdles? The trolls and PBPs seem to manage. Sad

IamtheZombie · 22/08/2016 22:56

BeenThereDoneThatForgotten, the welcome to Mumsnet e-mail suggests that new joiners change from the autogenerated usernumber and provides a clickable link to the name change page.

Zombie thanks you for your kind thoughts.
