A number of us here have a love of pen porn and wanted to know if there was a grubby little corner you could stick us into??

And if MN wanted to create special personalised pens for us as well we will love you forever...

Haha Under

I hadn't realised how super grumpy this has made me - my first full on MN strop.........

...... I'm going to do a dirty protest.... by logging off and doing my laundry instead!! Angry

Sad A sad day.

Hey ho, we'll just have to keep this one going and then maybe start all other stationery-related discussions under Site Stuff Grin

Paperblank · 06/05/2016 08:30

My DD has done an actual dirty protest...

MNHQ I hope you're happy....instead of enjoying a cuppa I had to go and deal with a poonami and a grumpy baby. She was so cross when I was reading this thread to her she did a big trump.

AwakeCantSleep · 06/05/2016 08:42

How disappointing. Would LOVE a stationery topic. Am a lifelong addict. I pretty much grew up in the offices of my mum's accountancy and tax consultancy business, where I had unlimited access to the stationery cupboard. And the staplers. And the photocopier. Etc. Heaven! Not sure the staff found my presence as exhilarating.

Recently my attention has shifted from pens to notebooks. Have discovered the Leuchtturm1917 (?) range. Gorgeous. Am using an A5 dotted one in blue for bullet journalling not very successfully. Beautiful things.

Seeyounearertime · 06/05/2016 08:47

Joking aside, it is an odd decision by MNHQ. Now i'm sure our glorious overlords (Bow, scrape, doth cap etc) have a good reason to not give us a little cupboard, But i don't know what those reasons are.

If you look at the "Site Stuff" topic, this thread has far far far more posts in it than any of the other ones. Maybe they're looking at individual posters contained herein though? if so there might not be enough unique posters to justify a board of our ow.

the best solution that i can see is to spread the word about this thread... get as many people here as possible, maybe if we get many many more unique posters then MNHQ (Scrape, Bow, Remove Knickers etc) will have a rethink.

CrazyDuchess · 06/05/2016 08:58

Lol seeyou you may have a point and possible I make up half this thread

OP posts:
CrazyDuchess · 06/05/2016 08:59

We'Lloyd just keep it at the top of Site Stuff for now

I've only just discovered this thread, skimmed through it only to be disappointed at the end! I love stationery. When I was at secondary school my mum ran the school uniform and stationery shop. I got to go through the catalogues and help her choose stock. Bliss!

paxillin · 06/05/2016 11:36

Mumsnet is a brilliant place. I can see people want Chat and AIBU, I also see why people think about education, parenting or sex enough to need a topic.

Preppers and knitters are slightly more special interest. Sporners- well, they need a topic to protect the innocent.

Pencils and staplers Grin? Love it. I hope you do get a topic eventually and when I find myself stuck AGAIN with ill functioning white board markers, I'll know where to come Flowers.

CrazyDuchess · 06/05/2016 11:54

Paxilin I totally agree..... lol before long you'll see us pensexuals all over AIBU My "D"H took my Special edition Lamy to work and lost it - AIBU to LTB

Ah, this is a dark day.

We could try a mass walk out to the fountain pen network (which I found thanks to Poppy Amex on the Chat thread). The network has lots of sub boards of its own, proving what a rich seam MN is missing out on...

As a result of hours of distracting surfing on pen and ink sites, I thought I'd share this one - may not be much use for purchases unless you are in the US, but it has a wonderful section where you can compare the colours of different inks and lots of other useful corners to go and drool browse

Goulet Pens

I may or may not have given into the Bluegreen Lamy Al Star....

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/05/2016 13:17

Perhaps they'll find us somewhere when they reshuffle the boards?

I think we're more likely to get reliable traffic than swine flu or the World Cup...

CrazyDuchess · 06/05/2016 13:27

I'd hope so Polkadots

Thanks to you lot I'm going to buy a Lamy fountain pen Grin. The thing is, I'm a lefty and just spotted one with a left handed nib. Has anyone used one? I've always used normal ones before and just sort of moulded them to my writing style. Is it just a gimmick? Maybe I should buy two

AtiaoftheJulii · 07/05/2016 14:56

The nibs are only £4.50 (on cult pens, other stationery sites are available) and just slide on and off easily, do you could get a couple and experiment Grin

LiverAndChiantiYum · 07/05/2016 20:42

You're all enablers. Dirty, dirty enablers.

I think this is foolish of HQ. They need to keep us perverts locked up in a secure area Wink

elfycat · 07/05/2016 20:53

I'll come an join you, adding another voice in favour of pens and notebooks as a real thing, as real as the knitting/crochet people (though these habits are not mutually exclusive - I also have a yarn habit), in the hopes that MN powers-that-be realised that we need a safe place for our words...

or we will write to them

Does anyone know where my bottle of purple ink has got to? I knew where it was 2 years ago before we did an extension and I'm getting back to using fountain pens. I have a lovely purple Waterman pen (wedding gift) that just needs the matching ink...

I also love those yellow-barrelled bic pens. The joy of a fine line of ink following where my hand leads can make my day brighter.

CrazyDuchess · 07/05/2016 21:37

Elfy you legit just made my womb contract..... those fine yellow barrelled bicycle pens

I have discovered that Family Circle biscuit boxes are perfect storage for stationery bits.

So, we have a box for ink, a 'things that stick box' which contains anything from superglue to staples to treasury tags and much in between, a box for cables, a box for pencils, a box for batteries etc etc (DH gets the boxes from work, we haven't eaten that many biscuits!).

What's in each is written with a permanent sharpie on the side so that when they're in the cupboard they're easily located Grin

stealthsquiggle · 07/05/2016 22:22

I had a long email exchange with the nice man from Cult Pens about left handed nibs when DS was struggling with handwriting and fountain pens. That and the OT who rest his handwriting over a summer holiday. They both said that they are a waste of money - you just need to find the pen/nib that suit you, and left handedness is not a factor

(Disclaimer - I am right handed so this is not first hand experience, but DS finally found his perfect pen/nib combination and is happy with it)

Seeyounearertime · 07/05/2016 22:23

I thought everyone had biscuit tins ful of various things :)
It's the only reason I buy biscuits in tins tbh... Grin

(I also Ave tins full of diy type things like screws, drill bits, nails and what nots)

elfycat · 07/05/2016 23:11

CrazyDuchess.

So glad to meet another yellow-barrelled bic fan. I wasn't sure about admitting that here on a stationery thread, but love is love.

It's usually a bit like admitting that you actually prefer instant coffee (even though we have a bean to cup coffee-maker). And yes I do Blush I am drinking real coffee daily though. DH is away and if the water filter isn't used it had a shorter shelf life. Once he's home I'm back to Kenco instant

CrazyDuchess · 08/05/2016 00:14

Elfy - are we separated at birth??? I love instant too but will get real coffee wherever I can won't confess to having 2 coffee machines at home

If we have no cupboard, where on earth am I supposed to store all my refillable whiteboard pen cartridges? Angry
