A number of us here have a love of pen porn and wanted to know if there was a grubby little corner you could stick us into??

And if MN wanted to create special personalised pens for us as well we will love you forever...

Oooh I love a good pen, and a notebook full of lovely thick, creamy, unlined paper... drools a bit

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

BrendaFurlong · 30/04/2016 10:11

I just cleaned out my pencil case. I can now justify the purchase of new highlighters, pencils, and other bits. Is late 40s too old for scented erasers?

Seeyounearertime · 30/04/2016 10:14

Brenda you're never too old for scented erasers.

IonaMumsnet · 30/04/2016 12:27

No news as yet we're afraid. However, because it's the weekend, I'm just going to leave this here.

Paperblank · 30/04/2016 21:42

Iona can't you do something?? Refuse to make the tea? Hide all the good biscuits? Or and this is my genius idea of the day give one of us a job at MNHQ so we can quietly tidy the stationery cupboard and make sure all the pencils are sharp.

I am buying the Enid Blyton notebook. I don't care if DH has to eat beans for the rest of the month I'm 'avin' it!

Seeyounearertime · 30/04/2016 21:46

I'd imagine there's got to be at least one topic that could be upcycled to be the Stationery Cupboard? There's got to be one that not really used much?

Seeyounearertime · 30/04/2016 21:50

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/video_games

This one is empty? Just rename it and stick it in "Other Stuff" and done.

Otherwise its Mechanical Pencils at dawn, fastest clicker wins, broken leads don't count.

AtiaoftheJulii · 30/04/2016 23:18

Anyone got/used an ARC notebook? www.staples.co.uk/Content/Static/W15/04/445/index.cshtml?icid=lr:ac

You can add and remove pages, pop in accessories, etc. I lured dd away from her filofax into bullet journaling, and now she's thinking of trying out this arc setup - it looks rather appealing Smile

AtiaoftheJulii · 30/04/2016 23:20

And if they don't give us a cupboard, we could just take over video games anyway!

AGnu · 01/05/2016 00:53

I'm not a pen-person, I love the sound/feel of pencil on paper. A proper sharpenable pencil, none of these new fangled mechanical gizmos. I got my favourite in a goody bag a few months ago & I'm starting to worry about what I'll do when it's too small to use anymore. I have considered contacting goody bag company & offering money. It's not got any coating on, it's just lovely, smooth, warm wood. The only places I've found that do them have a limit of at least 250 per order. DH wouldn't be impressed if I bought that many. Does anyone know where I could get a slightly more sensible seeming quantity? If not, I'll have to order the 250 & stash them somewhere & just hope DH never notices the changing lengths or the fact that "a couple" of pencils last an entire lifetime! Blush

AGnu · 01/05/2016 01:01

Oh, more important details - it's round, not hexagonal & doesn't have an ugly, poor quality rubber on the end.

PigeonPie · 01/05/2016 07:56

Gnu if your DH is anything like mine he wouldn't think twice about the never-ending pencil.

What you do is only have two out at a time, but also keep others in the pen pot so they're 'disguised'. He'll never notice!

Make your order, it wouldn't be that expensive - would it?

Seeyounearertime · 01/05/2016 08:08

AGnu

Buy the 250 and then SELL them in packs of 10 on eBay, profit and new pencils. Grin

SoupDragon · 01/05/2016 09:38

none of these new fangled mechanical gizmos

See, I love a mechanical pencil as I can keep snapping the lead off so that it always has a crisp edge for writing.

AtiaoftheJulii · 01/05/2016 10:39

Come on, link to pencil!

My favourite pencil is this one www.staedtler.co.uk/en/products/pencils-accessories/pencils/noris-ergosoft-153-triangular-jumbo-pencil/

Extra thick, triangular, 2B - I like a fairly sharp point so I sharpen it a lot and they run down quite quickly!

ExpandingRoundTheMiddle · 01/05/2016 10:48

Sell?!!!
Wash your mouth out Seeyou

Smile
Seeyounearertime · 01/05/2016 10:54

But in my defence, if you buy 250 pencils, keep 50, sell the 200 in 20 packs of ten, you can then spend the money you make on another 250 pencils...

A self perpetuating, endless supply of pencils. What more could a pensexual want? Grin

CrazyDuchess · 01/05/2016 12:36

the sound of pencil or those fat felt tips markers on paper drives me crazy. Especially when the pencil is blunt

Makes working in an office such fun Confused

I have had a stationery disappointment today.
I bought some beautiful looking post it notes for my journal and they are rubbish - the sticky remains on the note below, so you can't write on it, and it sticks to the opposite journal page.
Not worth returning them because they were cheap, and the return petrol would cost me more, but I've never been let down by a post it before and I feel sad.
I felt someone on this thread would understand - I'd planned a lovely journal layout based on them and now it is empty and bare.

Of course the up side is that I need to shop for more.

Seeyounearertime · 01/05/2016 16:10

Aww Brenda, that sucks (rather than sticks)
Here you go, treat yourself :)

CrazyDuchess · 01/05/2016 16:12

I.must admit to being a total post it brand snob - oohh more shopping!

OP posts:
Seeyounearertime · 01/05/2016 16:41

I wouldn't say I'm a snob about anything but I do like Amazon because of the reviews, if there's over 100 reviews and it scores highly, chances at it'll be half decent.

Maybe I'm a review whore? Grin

BrendaFurlong · 01/05/2016 16:52

I have many practical post its already (paper, plastic, large, small, minuscule, square, rectangular, arrows, half and half coloured flags, totally coloured flags, to do mini lists, memo pads, etc) and just wanted some pretty ones. Or stickers. Something I can write a couple of words/heading/ date on, and which look nice. Nobody else sees this journal. Its all for me.

I am now scouring Amazon. There are compensations.

CrazyDuchess · 01/05/2016 17:21

Haha totally amazon whore here too - I am not ashamed be value in assume many pensexuals are amazon whores too!

PalmerViolet · 01/05/2016 21:33

Just adding my voice to the call for a stationery cupboard.

I can look at everyone's lovely pens and dream of a time when I am rich and can buy some Grin
