In the interest of restoring harmony, do you think it's time to tidy up the political threads?

As a rule I generally don't care where people choose to post.

But since Chat and AIBU are riddled with political threads that tend to start the mother of all bun fights, does anyone think HQ should move them to the Politics topic now?

This way, if people still want to post on them they can, but peace and harmony might be restored to the rest of MN?

It's doing a lot of people's heads in. Even some of the posters on those threads are probably sick of getting drawn into them, but it's hard not to when there's so much goading going on.

I reported a 'political ' thread earlier today. It's been deleted and was started by a pbp.

There seems to be a lot of goading and posters knowing exactly what buttons to push.

WorraLiberty · 09/05/2015 16:50

Honey stay around and stick it right up 'em Grin

I suppose the trouble is, HQ are always really thin on the ground over the weekends.

I don't fancy their Monday morning deletion schedule Grin

oops, posted too soon.

Mildly diverting, until people unwitting started sharing their RL experiences of fatal accidents, MNHQ were probably too busy sorting out the fighty threads to zap it earlier.

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2015 16:50

Yes they have skeletons for staff at weekends. Sad

WD41 · 09/05/2015 16:57

The election was less than 48 hours ago and it's a pretty important event. It's inevitable that people will want to discuss it and why the hell shouldn't they be able to start their own threads?

This is only a website and it's not compulsory to come on here. If election post mortem is annoying then maybe don't open the threads or just go and do something else?

WorraLiberty · 09/05/2015 16:59

But even they appear to be having a spa day Sad

Now there's a thought....

hugoagogo · 09/05/2015 17:00

It will pass, I have just stopped looking at the election stuff.

There are other topics and unanswered threads or god forbid real life!

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2015 17:01

Grin Worra.

It's not compulsory to start thread after thread either, you can be upset about the election without posting it on MN for two days.

Pagwatch · 09/05/2015 17:02

I just told someone to shove their tory goading thread up their arse.

I'm being forced to seem like I'm defending Tories [cries]

WorraLiberty · 09/05/2015 17:03

I think at midnight on NYE, everyone should start their own personal thread saying "Happy New Year".

God forbid they might want to tag on to someone else's.

You just want to snog David Cameron don't you pagwatch?

Starting threads about politics is fine, of course people are entitled to do that.

Problem is the people who think they are entitled to start threads or posts with the sole intention of being massive bell ends and personally abusive to boot, under the guise of politics.

I'll be too busy playing bingo to do that Wink

AuntieStella · 09/05/2015 17:07

"Problem is the people who think they are entitled to start threads or posts with the sole intention of being massive bell ends and personally abusive to boot, under the guise of politics."

Beautifully put. I'm tempted to paste it on to so many threads

Pagwatch · 09/05/2015 17:07
Grin

Thanks Worra.
Yes, and do the sex.

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2015 17:08

Just had a look at NetMums. V neat with their 'Election 2015' topic. Envy

SoupDragon · 09/05/2015 17:09

Is it empty?

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2015 17:10

No-they are using it. Shock

Ubik1 · 09/05/2015 17:11

I'm loving a the political threads

Much better than all the usual 'guess what colour i've painted my wall threads,' or 'AIBU to put my rubbish out overnight at 10pm?

WorraLiberty · 09/05/2015 17:13

I've only ever looked at Netmums once

I was taken aback by the smell of dried piss and stale biscuits

True story.

I am looking for the middle ground between the two Ubik. i am worried I won't be able to find the BGT thread later in amongst all the Politics Angst ones.

muminthecity · 09/05/2015 17:14

I have a massive interest in the election results and have been discussing them constantly in RL, but haven't posted a single thing about it on MN mainly because of the goady fuckers and the accusations from all sides of anyone with a different opinion. It just isn't possible at the moment to have a reasonable discussion about it on here, which is ridiculous really.

WastingMyYoungYears · 09/05/2015 17:14

It will pass as others have said.

This stuff is real though, it's important. I don't think moving the threads is then answer.

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2015 17:15

YY mum now is not the time to discuss Politics on MN strange as it seems....
