"You have a message" with a red flashing envelope. It's giving me a headache - literally. And ids on the top of every third thread I open. I much prefer adverts in the body of the text.

Me four

There are two other flashing adds I have seen tonight - both Xmas win. As instructed by KateMumsnet on the other site stuff thread I clicked on one to try to get the URL.

However, it said that by clicking on the site I agreed for £5 to be added to my phone bill. I closed the browser but (a) really really hope I do not get charged and (b) think you should not be asking users to click these scam links when it puts them at 'risk'.

Get a smartphone, visit half a dozen threads and ta da - you will find one pop up and can get the URL yourself.

Oh, I was wondering about this. On just about every thread. It looks very Mumsnet-like. I actually thought it was a PM at first.

AgentProvocateur · 18/12/2014 22:33

It's on this thread for me now. And every second or third one I open.

SorrelForbes · 19/12/2014 08:15

Yep, it's back this morning.

hugoagogo · 19/12/2014 08:58

It's still there for me too.

iwantaginsoakedXmas · 19/12/2014 08:59

Me too.

And on my phone it's too easy to click in the wrong area.

EveryGoodBoyDeservesFun · 19/12/2014 09:05

I'm still getting it too.

RowanMumsnet · 19/12/2014 09:40

Right then - our ad team say they've now (they think) tracked down each and every version of this. (There were lots of them, which is why it took so long - each time we thought we'd blocked it, it turned out there was another version burbling away.)

So we really hope we've got it now. The block will take a few hours to take effect but if you're still seeing this from Friday afternoon onwards, please let us know and we'll get hunting for it again.

Many apologies that this has taken so long.

WinterGloves · 19/12/2014 11:08

It's still showing on mine at the moment.

charlie0123 · 19/12/2014 16:32

ITS STILL ON MINE. Seriously , please sort it out.

NotAnotherPackedLunchBox · 19/12/2014 16:57

It's still here. Xmas Sad

RowanMumsnet · 19/12/2014 16:59

oh AAARGH dear. We will alert the ad team again. Thanks for flagging.

ArthurSHappeyChristmas · 19/12/2014 17:12

I've not had it! Hurray!

Pico2 · 19/12/2014 17:13

Still here Xmas Biscuit

RowanMumsnet · 19/12/2014 17:37

OK just a quick update: this ad is coming from multiple sources and it seems they're buying ad space via new sources as quickly as we're blocking the old sources. There isn't an easy way to pre-emptively block it because (in terms of data we can see) it looks a bit different each time.

Basically, the people behind the ad are very determined...

The ad team are aware and are also getting very annoyed with it now Grin and are proactively looking for it, but we just thought we ought to explain why we're not zapping it as effectively as we would like.

LineRunner · 19/12/2014 17:56

Why does it only appear in the top ad? (The space you reintroduced a few weeks ago.) What's different about this space?

AlpacaYourThings · 19/12/2014 19:07

It is the most annoying advert on here!
