"You have a message" with a red flashing envelope. It's giving me a headache - literally. And ids on the top of every third thread I open. I much prefer adverts in the body of the text.

I've had it as well.

LineRunner · 15/12/2014 14:50

This is bloody ridiculous.

What next? Porn? Either MN can screen the imported content or it can't. I'd like to think obvious scams could be blocked, especially when reported repeatedly.

NotAnotherPackedLunchBox · 15/12/2014 15:06

It's still appearing.

Can you prod tech again please?

CrimboHornedSnowflake · 15/12/2014 15:09

Just had it too, give tech a boot up the arse

ArthurSHappeyChristmas · 15/12/2014 15:39

Still bloody there!
Flashing away and annoying the hell out of me.

Linerunner, you missed the porn then! It was a few weeks ago and was bloody awful.

I'm getting this flashing thing too.

LineRunner · 15/12/2014 15:44

Oh my God. I missed the Mumsnet porn?

ArthurSHappeyChristmas · 15/12/2014 15:57

Yes LineRunner loads of us kept getting deducted to porn sites. :(

It wasn't MN's finest hour. There'll be a thread about it in site stuff. Someone took a screen capture I seem to remember.

ArthurSHappeyChristmas · 15/12/2014 15:57

deducted redirected

ArthurSHappeyChristmas · 15/12/2014 16:02

Here you go LineRunner

LineRunner · 15/12/2014 16:52

Bloody hell.

AmyMumsnet · 15/12/2014 17:30

Hi folks,

We're still working on getting rid of the ad, but our tech guys have to find it before they can zap it, so it's just a case of waiting for it to pop up again.

Rest assured we haven't forgotten about it!

Cocolate · 15/12/2014 17:34

You need AdBlock!!! (I used to be plagued with this stuff but no more!!! - Sooooo pleased)

mipmop · 15/12/2014 18:36

Amy- are you saying that you agree it's unsuitable, but you can only deal with unsuitable ads if a member of the tech team actually see it?

mipmop · 15/12/2014 18:39

I mean, are the tech team unable to shut down ads - even if users provide screenshots- unless tech team catch it themselves while browsing the site on their own device?

LineRunner · 15/12/2014 18:43

That's bizarre.

charlie0123 · 15/12/2014 19:17

aarghhhh get rid of it please.

SunshineOutdoors · 15/12/2014 19:33

I've got it back now Angry

KlepTheHallsWithBoughsOfTronic · 15/12/2014 19:33

I think MN have a generic ad service. Calls to adseller.site/mumsnet are allowed. Then the generic ad service will spew out whatever.

Tech cannot bar the generic ad service, all revenue would cease. When the offending ad pops up, they CAN trace and block that one specific ad. But yes, unless someone sends MNHQ the URL referrer ti the bad ad, they will have to be sat there trapping stuff when it appears in order to trap the address and enter it into the blocking filters.

Disclaimer: this is a very generic explanation.

moplayapp.com/p/w/uk/3/?s=2113233793. here you are. Bloody annoying.

ArthurSHappeyChristmas · 15/12/2014 20:13

I'm amazed they can't 'catch' it though... It's appearing about once every 8 threads for me when browsing.

BusyBumbleBee15 · 15/12/2014 20:14

Ironically I now see it on top of this thread...

WipsGlitter · 15/12/2014 20:27

I've just had it. Very annoying.

DawnMumsnet · 15/12/2014 20:53

Thanks for catching that one, Sorrel, we'll flag it to our Tech folk.

Sorry for all the faff, everyone. Sad
