Can we have a Mumsnet pet?

We could have a little window showing a webcam view of it on the right hand side of the site, if you can squeeze it between the adverts. It would be good for those of us who don't have pets of our own or who accidentally ate theirs.

I suggest a tank with a goldfish called Mr Fish. I would also like a miniature goat, but it would probably drown in the tank. Sad

Part of the OP was to have a webcam trained on it so we can see it. I feel that would be too hard with a tiger, unless it's dead. Snakes would be ideal as their natural habitats are tanks with hot lightbulbs in them. Can I suggest another tank of gentleman mice and lady mice? We'll be able to watch them having sex and possibly pick up ideas from them, and we'll also have a supply of cute ickle cuddly baby snake food.

I'd love an MN pet, but not a sloth, they are really, really creepy looking things. And goat would be great though, or fish.

You think aibu is bad - imagine the arguments and tantrums over who's cleaning out.

how about an Owl then? living in a nice apartment full of twigs and pebbly shit?
and a drink cabinet full of gin a snack bar full of nibbles.
and the Owl would pretend to be reading "Of Mice and Men"

Let's adopt a dog. From a proper dog's home. Dawnmumsnet you can go there and take photos, we can choose him via a sort of dog election, then you get to keep him, feed him, walk him, bath him when he rolls in fox poo, Justine can pay you for his upkeep and vet's bills, and we can watch him on webcam all day, trashing your house and raiding your cupboards while you're at work. We could have two way microphones so we can talk to him so he doesn't get lonely.

It's a fine plan with no downsides for me at all.

Wow that Piggy pufferfish has an actual human face with ears, eyes and a proper nose. Shock

Fubsy · 06/11/2014 17:42

Come on, how is this creepy?

That one is quite cute, but these aren't - they look like something that would lurk under a bed in a horror film.

I would happily clean out tiger pens - plus, all we do is set him or her up with a special hat which means that the camera is sort of balanced on his head so you can see him in his environment doing tiger-y stuff!

What about an axolotl (called Aristotle?)

Cute, isn't he, Fell.

He looks like a mouldy potato when he puffs up. And he actually NOMS when he eats. Nom nom nom nom nom

spooktrain · 07/11/2014 15:19

Come on, it has to be a wankbadger!Grin

AGnu · 07/11/2014 15:30

A muntjac deer would satisfy both the ODFODeer & they're kinda like pygmy goats... But they lick instead of bite. Plus it could be our Christmassy 'rein'deer without taking up too much space!

headlesslambrini · 07/11/2014 15:48

I vote for a gorilla - the ones that play the drums! I'm sure Justine wouldn't mind some music in the office! Its the gift that just keeps on giving!

Dinglethdragon · 07/11/2014 15:58

How about we rotate them? no not on a spit seasonal pets? I like the idea of an 'oh do fuck off deer' but the goat is also an attractive option, particularly for the christmas season when so many of us are looking for inspiration for that perfect goat to give the PILs......

pamish · 07/11/2014 17:13

I want a baby hippo.

Fubsy · 08/11/2014 10:16

So where's our pet? There was a Furby Boom in my sidebar for a while, but now that's gone. It didn't even dance. I haz a disappoint.

BankWadger · 08/11/2014 20:27

Surely a wankbadger would be a bit, er sticky. Bags not cleaning up that one!!!

Tig - for a while I thought you were a girl I went to uni with.

She had 2 goldfish, and when she cleaned out the tank she put the goldfish in 2 glasses by the sink.

Half way through she poured herself a glass of lemonade. Then, you've guessed it, drank the wrong glass.

She went to put the fish back and couldn't understand why there was one glass with a fish in it and one glass of lemonade still sitting there.

yes, she had swallowed her goldfish and NOT NOTICED!
