Can we have a Mumsnet pet?

We could have a little window showing a webcam view of it on the right hand side of the site, if you can squeeze it between the adverts. It would be good for those of us who don't have pets of our own or who accidentally ate theirs.

I suggest a tank with a goldfish called Mr Fish. I would also like a miniature goat, but it would probably drown in the tank. Sad

We could get a T-Rex and Sharon could look after it

RebeccaMumsnet · 05/11/2014 10:51

There are a few of those about the place OYBBK Wink
We see them as vermin.

Mitchy1nge · 05/11/2014 10:56

I donate a fat grey (sometimes pink, usually muddy) pony

FruVikingessOla · 05/11/2014 17:12

Only our Tiggs could make a throwaway remark about 'accidentally eating their own pet' Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/11/2014 18:52

Shock Some people see rats as vermin Rebecca, but one persons vermin is another persons pet. We just need to cage it and feed it, but not let it get fat.

EvilTiggyD · 05/11/2014 18:53

How about a pony? This one looks friendly!

Either a tortoise or some stick insects please.

hiddenhome · 05/11/2014 19:43

The mumsnet pet should be a spider - this will help the people who are frightened of spiders because they can watch it from a safe distance Smile

I'm also trying to breed my hissing cockroaches, so we could have a mumsnet pet maternity experience.

Arkkorox · 05/11/2014 19:45

Accidentaly ate?!

Vitalstatistix · 05/11/2014 19:48

we could have an interactive one that responds when you feed or stroke it

or this. we could have this beauty.

Look at her with her daughter. Doesn't she look like a fab parent? Grin

You couldn't eat that whole pony now, could you, Tiggy?
Or could you??! Shock

FruVikingessOla · 05/11/2014 21:18

He might try, Pacific Grin

thingamajig · 05/11/2014 21:33

I thought you were referring to this Tiggy? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pets/238111-please-don-t-laugh-but-i-think-i-may-have?#4788693

IonaMumsnet · 05/11/2014 21:49

We could give him an ickle red nose for Christmas!

SecretNutellaFix · 05/11/2014 21:58

Was hamster casserole really 8 years ago????????

I was lurking back then.

PacificDogwood · 05/11/2014 22:34

Like this one, Iona?

Graendal · 05/11/2014 23:15

Goats are lovely. We could have milk.

Hamster casserole would be deleted now :(

ZingOfSeven · 06/11/2014 11:05

Iona Mumsnet

I second that.
Oh-Do-Fuck-Off-Deer sounds like a top choice.

I personally would like a male flying monkey.
I often say I don't give a flying monkey's left ball - this way I could give one.

or maybe an Octopus - ooh that'd be stealth. we could be pretending it's to symbolise that mums just never have enough hands but we'd all know it just means we'd have someone to hand out extra grips speedily.

Grin

Surely we needs some vipers to live up to our name? These chaps seem up to the job

Actually if you ever feel sad just google snakes wearing hats. Look at this little guy!

My vote would be for screaming goats or fainting goats. Preferably both.

In all seriousness though, could MN (through its users) maybe sponsor an animal/some animals? Would be good for everyone and MNHQ could post updates...

Maybe we could sponser the lurcher puppies...

ZingOfSeven · 06/11/2014 11:32

Kate

oh no, not snakes, pleease don't!

to quote Indiana Jones "I HATE snakes"

WyldChyld · 06/11/2014 12:19

I'm putting my foot down and ending this nonsense now. There is only one possible pet that we could ever entertain and this is a tiger. They are a) endangered (much likes MNers i.e. the few remaining normal Mums etc out there in the wild world of the internet... sometimes), b) beautiful (take this as a compliment, y'all!) and c) terrifying. Like, um, we can be. See AIBU.

Plus I really really really want a tiger and DH says I am not allowed one as it would shed on the bed and he's fed up of hoovering as it is.

BankWadger · 06/11/2014 12:43

I second what Zing and Indiana said!

Zing when are you bringing newest Zing by the gin cave?

All I find myself thinking is FFS I have a husband and children. The last thing I need is fur, scales, poo, wee, food, demands for cuddles and walks following me all over MN. That would make it just like RL!!!!!! goat, get a goat
