But in case you don't, I'm letting you know.

Ugh! Good luck with sorting it asap

Mobile samsung using goggle browser

Skelacia · 29/10/2014 08:16

Mobile site via Chrome for Android. Samsung Galaxy S5 and Nexus 7 tablet both affected. It's worse this morning than yesterday morning in that the number of redirects has increased. I've also only been redirected to porn today, no innocuous (but annoying) play store apps!

madamecake · 29/10/2014 08:22

This has just started happening to me this morning, mobile site on Google chrome for android. Redirects to both porn sites and pkay store. Nothing happens on any other websites I browse, only mumsnet.

Petallic · 29/10/2014 08:26

Mobile talk site. Iphone 5 using safari. Has been worse this morning for me than yday.

mckayz · 29/10/2014 08:27

This has been happening to me since about 1am. This is the first time I have been able to open a thread without being redirected to porn or having the App Store open.

I'm using my iPhone and Safari.

floatyflo · 29/10/2014 08:39

Happened to me half hour ago. Am in a Samsung galaxy 4, the mobile site through chrome. Came onto mumsnet thus morning, clicked in threads I'm on, clicked on the father have rights to be at birth one and was redirected to some porn site. Quickly closed it. Then redirected again to a porn site and then got two fake messages telling me I had a virus on phone and to click ok to sort it. I closed that. Ran AVG scan and nothing detected.

This concerned me greatly. A part of me is glad it has happened to others and it is not just my phone, however I am shocked to learn this has happened before and mumset appear to not understand what is happening.

DearGirl · 29/10/2014 08:41

Been happening all morning
Samsung s4
In browser no app

Monroe · 29/10/2014 09:07

Thank feck I saw this thread, I thought it was just me Confused

All day yesterday I was being redirected to ewank Angry Only from mumsnet mobile site on Samsung s5 whenever I clicked on threads I'm on. It was vile. I am now panicking I've also clicked on something accidently and been charged. The phone and contract is in Dh's name. I'm going to have some explaining to do.

I deleted a load of apps and cleared all my browsing history yesterday and so far today there have been no pop ups.

RowanMumsnet · 29/10/2014 09:38

Apologies all - turns out we thought we had isolated which of our two third-party ad suppliers was 'safe' and had turned ads from that one back on. Turns out they're not so safe after all so we've turned them off again now. Many apologies.

@floatyflo

I am shocked to learn this has happened before and mumset appear to not understand what is happening.

We're really sorry floatyflo - we do understand what's happening (see our explanation here) but it's tricky because it's a third-party ad supplier issue, so we're waiting for them to work out the sources of the rogue ads.

Loveloveloveher · 29/10/2014 09:41

Hi RowanMumsnet I'm on my iPhone using safari on the mobile site. You must be having a headache trying to sort this out.

I def haven't clicked any ads, it happens when I try to browse through any of the talk threads. Most of them I've just closed that window but the ones I had last night wouldn't let me close the window as the little pop up box had appeared. Hope that makes sense?!

Surely this is more than just some accidental issue? Really hope the person who gave their details to the ejiz guy or whoever he was yesterday hasn't had any problems.

TheSpottedZebra · 29/10/2014 09:44

Is it really just from the 3rd party ads? Would they really force repeated re directs and pop ups?

I've absolutely not clicked on any ads yet it happened to me all through yesterday.

Asleeponasunbeam · 29/10/2014 10:06

I've never deliberately clicked on an ad. The delightful porn site is now In my 'frequently visited' sites.

I am now distinctly pissed off.

OP posts:
Asleeponasunbeam · 29/10/2014 10:06

Also having the pop up boxes that have to be clicked on so you can leave the page.

Asleeponasunbeam · 29/10/2014 10:09

Also, if I leave mumsnet open, I return to find the AppStore opened with, usually, something casino related showing. I have never deliberately opened anything like that either.

Is this just a spooky Halloween coincidence directly preying on my ingrained ex-Methodist sensitivities!

Hi, we're pretty sure it is coming via 3rd party ads, we've completely turned them off for now and we haven’t had any new reports since, which is a pretty good indicator.

These ads are set up to redirect users to another site, you don't have to click on them at all for this to happen. This is categorically NOT allowed on Mumsnet and our ad providers do not allow them either.

Sorry to everyone who's had to experience these ads, we’re working really hard to get these blocked.

TeenyfTroon · 29/10/2014 10:53

Thank you MNHQ. When you've finished dealing with this, please could you post some advice as to what we should do to tidy up and protect our phones/laptops etc.
For example, someone upthread mentioned clearing cache and cookies - is this a good idea? Some cached info is obviously useful to speed up browsing and log ins. (Or that's what it said when I Googled!)
Deleting history etc.
I've checked my O2 app to check I haven't been charged, but I'm more worried about possible virus downloads.
Any advice would be great!

EveryGoodBoyDeservesFun · 29/10/2014 11:10

Mine seems to be working ok now. I've cleared my history and cookies & cache just to be sure, but hopefully that is it resolved!

Thanks MNHQ

Loveloveloveher · 29/10/2014 12:25

Fortunately I didn't have any little eyes peering over my shoulder when these websites came up. Not sure if your saw any yourself MN but they were full on porn vids. If someone exposed themselves in public like that they'd be arrested. Why is it allowed to happen over the internet?

PolarCub · 29/10/2014 17:33

My browser is trying to redirect me but my settings don't allow it to.
I am on the desktop site using firefox - latest one, just updated earlier today. This is a brand new machine and have only browsed on Mumsnet today!
I haven't clicked on any ads either

Anyone else still getting this??

cellis2014 · 31/10/2014 10:15

Hi All,

Just a quick message to say that Mobjizz (who runs Ewank) are still working on resolving this issue with mumsnet.

It appears to be an issue with an affiliate advertiser because it is not just our site that users are being redirected to inappropriately.

As Ewank is a premium site, if anyone has incurred charges from our services please do not hestitate to get in contact with us at [email protected] and we will process a refund.

Many thanks

I'd just like to add again, since it's just happened again, that Mumsnet is still inaccessible when I am running a particular security protection program. This suggests that your site is still affected by malware or something else that my security program objects to - any thoughts on this?
I don't want to have to keep pausing my security prog. to be able to access MN!

Thumbscrewswitch · 01/11/2014 07:13

Well I don't know about anyone else but I'm pleased to be able to report that my security program is now letting me access MN, which suggests that the malware/nasty aspect is resolved. Hurrah!

giraffescantboogie · 01/11/2014 07:24

fingers crossed!

Thumbscrewswitch · 01/11/2014 13:21

Lost you again in protected mode - guessing that means whatever went wrong has gone wrong again?
