DO NOT BE ALARMED. Mumsnet is going to be offline for a few hours SATURDAY OCTOBER 11

Hello everyone,

We're very sorry, but Mumsnet is going to be offline THIS COMING SATURDAY, October 11, from 6am(ish) to 2pm(ish) while Tech undertakes some essential maintenance. We're leaving our creaky old data home for a whizzy new high-tech place, and we need to move the furniture. (MNHQ itself isn't moving - we couldn't cope with that )

But! We've no intention of leaving you high and dry. If it's too early on a Saturday to think about facing real life, fear not. We've plumbed the archive and pulled together a selection of 25 of the finest threads in Mumsnet's history, and we'll be putting those on a holding page while we're offline. The long winter evenings morning will just fly by!

Very sorry for the inconvenience but we're afraid this one's unavoidable.

Strength and honour
MNHQ

I've never yet seen a migration work successfully the first time on a busy forum site.

(just sayin...)

JuniperTisane · 09/10/2014 12:43

Is Gransnet affected as well?

FryOneFatManic · 09/10/2014 12:47

As long as these threads are Looooong ones, I might, just might, survive Grin

At least I can bribe DS with his hudl to keep him quiet. He's taken to farting loudly in the middle of an occupied room in what I can only describe as a "skier's pose" ie, knees bent, arms tucked in and arse sticking out. He's nearly 11, he should be over this by now Shock

Oh and this Saturday, DP is taking me and DCs out for an early birthday lunch time meal (for me)! That'll cover some of the time, at least, and a rare lie in will cover more.

Whew! at least I won't be completely deprived or should that be depraved?

LineRunner · 09/10/2014 12:48

No to penis breaker.

Yes to malfunctioning DS. Also Sharon (various).

CadleCrap · 09/10/2014 12:54

That is a really crap birthday present, Even considering last year of the " thumb in some weird stuff" that is meant to look like a love heart.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 09/10/2014 12:56

Whaaaat!

Hmmm, well If I haven't drunk all the gin by 8am I guess I could spend the day in happy autumnal pursuits such as making sloe gin or damson vodka ....

Actually will be away admiring the autumn colours of trees round a lake whilst my dd attends a course (accompanying her there and back and sneaking in a much needed little weekend break at the same time)

So, if you have to you've chosen a good day for me ....

Amusing thread folks - nice OP Rowan :-)

magimedi · 09/10/2014 13:08

I'm leaving the country in 'discust'

(Not a lie - have a day trip to France planned).

Please can you leave the 25 threads up all w/e so I can see what they are?

EyesCrossedLegsAkimbo · 09/10/2014 13:08

Passive consumption is the order of the day!

Gin?

skyeskyeskye · 09/10/2014 13:09

Good job I'm working most if the day then!

Ooh yes, Bounty!! That's where I joined when I was pregnant with Mini Skye in 2008.

You do realise your new sooper dooper computer will crash at 2pm when we all rush online! Grin

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 09/10/2014 13:14

I think MNHQ should send us all gin and chocolates to help us survive the shock of not being able to mn during that time Grin

JerseySpud · 09/10/2014 13:15

PAAAAAAAAANNNIIIICCCCCCC!!!!

ouryve · 09/10/2014 13:18

Mumsnet offline on my 45th birthday?

I feel betrayed.

startwig1982 · 09/10/2014 13:18

And what am I meant to do when feeding dd? Plus I have both dc on Saturday by myself: who's going to help me retain some sanity??ShockShock

TheFairyCaravan · 09/10/2014 13:18

I don't mind as long as you promise it'll be back on for the XFactor thread! DS1 is coming home tomorrow night, for 10 days, with 3 bags of washing! I'm sorted for the morning on Saturday already. Grin

FoxSticks · 09/10/2014 13:20

I agree with DejaVu

KingJoffreysBloodshotEye · 09/10/2014 13:23

It's fine.

Watching Minecraft for 8 hours with no distraction will be fine.

Absolutely fine.

cozietoesie · 09/10/2014 13:27

Gin, KingJoffreys. The sun will be over the yard arm somewhere.

DrElizabethPlimpton · 09/10/2014 13:34

I predict a baby boom in 9 months

There won't be much else to do after all. Wink

HoneyDragonMumshnet · 09/10/2014 13:35

As it's a special day can you make it 26 threads and undelete the one where Justine used her superhuman power of scoldâ„¢ and told us if we didn't stop saying Mitmoo and start behaving she'd pull the plug. Please?

I've always thought it unfair that when Justine decides to Flounce she can take the entire site with her Hmm

EduCated · 09/10/2014 13:36

Anything but sodding penis beaker.

AGnu · 09/10/2014 13:45

Seriously?! What am I supposed to do?! Saturday mornings are when DH takes the DC out & I have silence to MN in! Pff, next you'll be suggesting I go with them & have actual RL fun! Angry

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 09/10/2014 13:46

So we're going to be without MN for 4 or 5 days then if the track record is to be believed Shock Grin

I would love a field trip to The Other Place. I've only seen it in travel brochures.

strawberryblondebint · 09/10/2014 13:47

Nooooo I was going to do a live weddinb thread. How the heck am I meant to calm my nerves. Not happy not happy at all

Fenton · 09/10/2014 13:48

Honey, that's genius,

For one day only,

We bring you....
