DO NOT BE ALARMED. Mumsnet is going to be offline for a few hours SATURDAY OCTOBER 11

Hello everyone,

We're very sorry, but Mumsnet is going to be offline THIS COMING SATURDAY, October 11, from 6am(ish) to 2pm(ish) while Tech undertakes some essential maintenance. We're leaving our creaky old data home for a whizzy new high-tech place, and we need to move the furniture. (MNHQ itself isn't moving - we couldn't cope with that )

But! We've no intention of leaving you high and dry. If it's too early on a Saturday to think about facing real life, fear not. We've plumbed the archive and pulled together a selection of 25 of the finest threads in Mumsnet's history, and we'll be putting those on a holding page while we're offline. The long winter evenings morning will just fly by!

Very sorry for the inconvenience but we're afraid this one's unavoidable.

Strength and honour
MNHQ

Bloody Nora, even I know 6am is too early for Wine. What are we going to do now?
Well it'll be all your fault mnhq if I'm forced to talk to my family.
Thanks a lot.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 09/10/2014 10:47

Nooooo!

That's all wrong! I have plans from 2, but not before! Who will I ask for advice on what to do with this time?!

Can we all plan to invade the same site?! And just "borrow" them for a bit :o

RowanMumsnet · 09/10/2014 10:48

@LineRunner

What if the tech shit doesn't work properly? What then, eh? What if you press the big ON switch at 2pm and nothing happens or it all blows up and there's a small mushroom cloud over MN Towers?

I think we should be told.

Apparently then we just call the whole thing off and call in our pension plans. We've had a good 15 years.

Arr I love it that you're leaving us with some finest archived threads to entertain us in the mean-time. So thoughtful Smile Kind of babysitting us! Hope all goes well x

MajesticWhine · 09/10/2014 10:52

FoxSticks · 09/10/2014 10:53

Nethuns borrowed us for a bit the other week - maybe we could head over there? Why did that thread go poor by the way? Or am I not allowed to ask.

FoxSticks · 09/10/2014 10:54

Poof not poor.

LineRunner · 09/10/2014 10:55

Can we argue massively about nominate the 25 threads?

FruVikingessOla · 09/10/2014 10:56

Does it mean it will all be whizzy and quick afterwards? Is Tech coming over from NYC, or will he be working in the middle of his night? Pore ole Tech!

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/10/2014 11:02

Good luck, MrsCakes!

Bettercallsaul1 · 09/10/2014 11:05

I think we just have to be brave and stiff-upper-lipped about this.

Sunna · 09/10/2014 11:07

but ... but ....

RowanMumsnet · 09/10/2014 11:07

@LineRunner

Only internally - you won't be able to post. Passive consumption is the order of the day! Remember, this is what life was like before about 1994, unless you sent telegrams to newspapers via carrier pigeon.

my mumsnet time.
