DO NOT BE ALARMED. Mumsnet is going to be offline for a few hours SATURDAY OCTOBER 11

Hello everyone,

We're very sorry, but Mumsnet is going to be offline THIS COMING SATURDAY, October 11, from 6am(ish) to 2pm(ish) while Tech undertakes some essential maintenance. We're leaving our creaky old data home for a whizzy new high-tech place, and we need to move the furniture. (MNHQ itself isn't moving - we couldn't cope with that )

But! We've no intention of leaving you high and dry. If it's too early on a Saturday to think about facing real life, fear not. We've plumbed the archive and pulled together a selection of 25 of the finest threads in Mumsnet's history, and we'll be putting those on a holding page while we're offline. The long winter evenings morning will just fly by!

Very sorry for the inconvenience but we're afraid this one's unavoidable.

Strength and honour
MNHQ

MissDuke · 09/10/2014 11:59

Aww I love that you aren't leaving us high and dry and can't wait to see the threads you have chosen :-D Good luck, hope the techy stuff goes well!

AmazonGrace · 09/10/2014 12:02

No Sad

I'll have to get some work done Confused

nannynoss · 09/10/2014 12:03

I'm going to be sitting in an airport during this time, what will I do to occupy myself?!?

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 09/10/2014 12:04

WTH this Saturday? Why couldn't you do it last Saturday when I was actually working...you can't do it this Saturday...it's my day off Shock

AllThatGlistens · 09/10/2014 12:06

Oh Ffs you mean I have to interact with people?? Ugh!

Oh well, I suppose DH and I will have to take the DC on a nature walk or something.

JuanFernandezTitTyrant · 09/10/2014 12:10

Rowan thank you so much for taking full account of the fact that I need to be decorating my son's first birthday cake on Saturday morning rather than arsing around on MN moaning about my MIL

I only have two questions: does the 25 threads include Booble Plate and Pom bears? Ooh ooh and the penguin dating ones? Does a series of hilarious threads count as one Classic for the purposes of The Twenty-Five?

Treasures · 09/10/2014 12:14
EduCated · 09/10/2014 12:15

I was just about to demand politely request that Booble Plate be included in the 25.

I may be forced to flounce if it isn't.

Noooooooooooooooo!!!! I will have to occupy myself with actual housework !

MagpieMama · 09/10/2014 12:21

It's my PFB's first birthday party that day! What if something funny happens and I need to post it?! I'll just have to take notes, that won't look weird or suspicious!

BertieBotts · 09/10/2014 12:22

So which other forum shall we invade? Netmums? Bounty? ARRRSE? :o

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 09/10/2014 12:23

God, I'm glad I saw this. What if I picked up my phone on Saturday morning, opened MN and there was nothing there? The Horror. The Horror.

FishWithABicycle · 09/10/2014 12:25

Omg how will we cope!!!!!! Surely it would be better to do it between 9 and 12 on a weekday when lots of us feel guilty for being on mumsnet instead of getting on with stuff (whether at work or at home). Saturday morning is when we're allowed to mumsnet WITHOUT feeling guilty.

TheDowagerDuchessOfDinglyDell · 09/10/2014 12:26

I wonder how much money will be spent during those 8 hours?

Fenton · 09/10/2014 12:29

I would love to meet up on Netmums, it would be like a field trip. How would we all recognise each other though?

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 09/10/2014 12:32

Please, please reassure me that this is being done with a thorough and clear change control process that includes a back-out plan, contingency and a thorough testing of the migration in a test environment before the migration happens in Live.

Not that you've ever had tech problems due to iffy change control or anything like that before....

....sobs.

slithytove · 09/10/2014 12:34

:(

The swearing will probably give us away Grin

fairgame · 09/10/2014 12:35

I hope we get some good threads to read.
Penis beaker, pom bear and EKL spring to mind. There was a recent one about a malfunctioning DS that i didn't get to read fully so put that one on as well pleasssse Smile

Fenton · 09/10/2014 12:36

I think Keema should be called in to advise, she's right you know.

Fenton · 09/10/2014 12:38

That's true, our posts would just be a river of stars, punctuated with the occasional non sweary word.

headlesslambrini · 09/10/2014 12:38

Bertie - I say that certain areas go to different websites, style and beauty could head over to ARRSE, feminists over to Bounty, AIBU over to netmums,

Imagine the good damage we could do
