I cannot believe it

How about one for air rifles too?

OP posts:
Gobblunarcharsky · 11/08/2006 10:41

Ha! but it's not a 4x4!!

Gas guzzles like you wouldn't believe though - costs me a small fortune

NomDePlume · 11/08/2006 10:42

zippi, I think women in general get more stick about being crap drivers.

handlemecarefully · 11/08/2006 10:42

Zippi, I sometimes spot blokes watching me about to reverse mine into a space - they are waiting for the floorshow, so it is with great satisfaction when I do it smoothly and efficiently in one easy movement....

zippitippitoes · 11/08/2006 10:43

actually I think it's probably deserved by a lot of women

ssd · 11/08/2006 10:43

CD, usually I really like reading your posts, but it's only a car and maybe MN needs all the advertising revenue it can collect just now.

NomDePlume · 11/08/2006 10:44

And men, surely, zippi ?

hulababy · 11/08/2006 10:44

NedKelly1978 - not as many as we did when we had the little Smart. Got that when they first came out (was left hand drive)and it was really rare to see one where we were (no garage seklking them for a long distance). But always goodd attention - get let out lots

I have a point about the "not being able to see when reversing". Worst car we had for the limoited rear view was the Audi A4 cabriolet. The window at the back was so small and high, it was very difficult to see probably. Made parking a real pain. Cursed DH lots at the time for not getting rear parking sensors!

handlemecarefully · 11/08/2006 10:44

Well ...it probably is...generally

ruty · 11/08/2006 10:45

oh not me gobblunarcharsky - despite having been hit by a car once [my own fault of course] I deliberately thrust my ds and myself into the course of all potentially serious accidents. I see it as my aim in life.
Anyway, I will parp myself now. Let the 4x4 ads live on, as that is the general sentiment here, obviously. Long live the 4x4!

Gobblunarcharsky · 11/08/2006 10:45

hmc - ditto! I once had builders round and they'd parked on my drive so I had to park on the road (it's a main road). They drove off so I could go and I reversed on, quickly and smoothly. This off a busy road, onto a drive that slopes steeply upward toward teh house and then round in front of the house.

Have to say, I was so, so chuffed I did it so well. They stood on teh porch and when I got out they actually said - wow, that was impressive!! Hehehe!

NomDePlume · 11/08/2006 10:47

That sounds exactly like my drive, Gobble.

zippitippitoes · 11/08/2006 10:48

most coupe cars are difficult to see out the back with their little raked windows and all cars have blind spots and lots have too hefty window bars..you just have to check carefully

and men are rubbish drivers too but maybe more on the move whereas a lot of women freely admit that they are incapable of manouevring in forward and reverse gear at slow speeds

handlemecarefully · 11/08/2006 10:48

Ha that was one in the eye for them then! Viva the women drivers revolution

hulababy · 11/08/2006 10:49

The Beetle has terrible blind spots at the front sides, because of the big chunky bits round the sides of the front window.

WorldFamousAuthorMolotov · 11/08/2006 10:58

just thinking aloud but if you really are upset about an advert on this site and would like to see it removed, is it sensible to post a threadline like that?

pmsl!

i see people panicking when their car has to go to the garage for a service, i mean, a whole TWO HOURS without the car

we have a great public transport service, buses and trains, i think that helps loads

and the buses are VERY buggy-friendly

GrinaFraud · 11/08/2006 11:42

they are a family car and whether you like it or not there advertising fee's will go towards paying to kep this site open.

they aren't illegal and the ads in themselves aren't offensive. ok you may disagree with the comapnies existance but that doesn't mean their ads are inapropriate.
you may not like Fruit Shits but you can't really stop them advertising here because they are aimed at children....whtehr you choose to buy them or not is up toyou.

edam · 11/08/2006 11:46

I just love the post which equated objecting to 4x4s to wanting to introduce communism...

fairyjay · 11/08/2006 11:50

I drive a 4 x 4. Part of my driving is town driving, but I use it to take my kids to school through country lanes - 25 miles each way, including a deep ford.
I drive well, park prettily and have never (touch wood) had or caused an accident in 20+ years of driving.
My car has sensors on the back to make sure that no little person has decided to walk across the back of an occupied vehicle with it's reversing lights on. I also have eyes, which I'm very careful about using.
I love my car, I work hard to pay for the material priviledges that I have and I'm certainly not going to apologise for spending my money how I chose.
But we are all entitled to our opinion, aren't we?
Oh....I can't see the ads. either!!

zippitippitoes · 11/08/2006 11:52

hyperbole is one of mns best features i think

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 12:08

he's obviously just a lazy, useless driver ndp
